headlights

just a question, i picked up a 98 civic si, and the plastic exterior for the headlights is nice and sun beaten, anyway to get rid of the yellow cloudy look and make them nice and clear, or simply get new ones?

also, exterior parts for 96-98 compared to 98-00, are they all the same fitting, such as headlights, taillights, bumpers, hoods, and what about the colour, my 98 is silver, but when i look at other ones which i presume to be 99-00, they look to be a different silver??

thanks in advance

PM Tego about the lights. He had a DIY on how to clean them properly. Try searching too. Maybe its in this section somewhere.

The 96-98 front end is different then the 99-00, so nothing will fit. The rest of the car is the same. The silver colour I'm not sure. Again, try a search. There are many threads about the differences between the different years.

you should wetsand them first starting with 400 grit and working your way to 1500 grit and then meguiars plastix to finish it. I just did a headlight that some brake fluid spilled on in the spare parts bin, and it looks incredible.

but I think the original ones have an anti-scratch coating, kinda like ppl's eyeglasses.... so you'll have to treat your lights better after you remove that coating and prolly polish them once a year.
