Now that I live out in the damn country where there are very few streetlights, I'm considering upgrading ny headlight bulbs. I'm wondering what would be the best, regardless of cost, as an upgrade over the stock bulbs.

9006 low
9005 high

HID retro is way too much effort for me and the plug-in HID's I don't know much about, but I've read they are not the greatest and illegal.

Thoughts?

9005 bulbs in your low beams...its a cheap effective mod and takes like 5min...I rocked that in my hatch, I did it to my buddy's envoy before I did the HID on it and e30 bimmer guys have been doin it for years

So a high beam bulb in the low beam location? Any problems with the wattage/rating or what ever they are rated at?

What about the highs then?

never had any problems with any cars...just remembered I have this done on my sts too...for the high beams just stick with the high beams...the hibeam\lobeam conversion is awesome...u can tell the difference

Yup, this works. I did this in my old car, which was a 1989 acura legend. Lights were a lot brighter. Some say this could melt your harness or even start a fire due to the wattage increase on the 9005 lights. I never had a problem with it.

Don't expect a great increase in light output, but they are better. Btw, you have to dremel out one of the tabs.
