Gauge install HELP PLEASE *PICS*
Ok so i need to get my car back togeather by 5pm today and i have crap everywhere because im trying to install these gauges
i am trying to install
Air Fuel
Volts
i have connected the power wires to the stereo positive going into the deck for power
i have grounded all the wires properly
i have the dash wiring connected to the dimmer switch, but for some reason when i have the head lights on and the dimmer is ON all the way so you can see the dash board, the gauges are off, and when you dim the lights so the dash goes off the gauges go ON, but you cant see the dash...
ill explain whats wrong in the pics
so the dimmer switch on a EG is in the middle of this picture
it has 3 wires
1 = black and red wire = power is always on the gauges when the headlights are turned on.
2 = black wire = ground
3 = red wire = when headlights are on and dimmer switch is on full so dash lights up the gauges are off, but when you put the dimmer on to dim the dash lights down the gauge lights go on.
so what do i do so when i have the dash lights on and the dim on HIGH so the dash lights are visiable the gauge lights are on too, but when i dim it it will go down with the dash?
the Air Fuel gauge, when i had it connected and in accessory, the AF led lights up in the middle right wiht 1 led on (see below)
When i flip the headlights on, then a wack load of led's go on (see below)
the engine is off on both cases.....
Also when the car is running and im going for a drive, and the headlights are OFF i notice that there is just one led light on the AF gauge like the first picture, and it stays there and doesnt move......
When the car is running and im driving around and the headlights are on.... well a wack of the led's go on like the picture above....
also i noticed when i had my stereo on....... it was sending like feedback to teh AF gauge and it was moving the led's beside the one that was on according to the music.......
also for tapping the Sender wire for the AF gauge into the ECU on a P28 ECU EG civic it said the pin was D14 = white wire so i connected it like this
but i dont know, it still doesnt seem like its working
any suggestions / help ? please and thanks

So, the problem is that your dimmer switch works for your stock instument lights, but is inverse for your aftermarket gauges?
And your headlight switch is playing with your after market A/F gauge LEDs?
Well, to start, what are the installation procedures for your aftermarket gauges? If I knew what kind of switches control the lights, I would guess you've got something connected to the wrong side of a switch throw as far as the dimmer snag.
The headlights affecting your LEDs just sounds like some wires are chafing. Maybe your headlight switching control circuit is dumping some power onto your A/F lighting circuit.
But again, it would be much easier to troubleshoot with a wiring schematic. And if you can, just give a little visual inspection of your aftermarket wiring bundles.
