Ek si, hid aiming?
hey i just installed some plug and play HID's into my stock headlights.
the driver side has this weird pattern to it and they bother shine all over the place..
i followed the manual guide and started playing around with the screws...
but nothing happens they just remain scattered all over the place..
does anyone know how to help me with this problem (without retrofitting)...
kinda annoying

ok her is how it works.....
stock bulb types are designed to have the light source a distance and type to hit the reflector a designed way. when you put an HID kit in it no longer has te same light source type or angle of reflection. you already waisted your money so put the stock bulbs in and don't **** any more ppl off looser!

FYI you cannot aim a HID down or up, its impossible. If you think you can, just look at the bulb itself. http://www.bavtoys.com/images/hid2.jpg
It has a glow to it, its not directional at the least. Its already aimed out with the aid of the reflector. THe ONLY thing you can do is aim your HEADLIGHT housing downwards and/or retrofit. retrofits aren't hard, just require creativity for the bracketing and wiring. Goodluck

No need to call him a lopser
He posted a question because he obviously cares about other cars in front of him...

Hey trunk_monkey, why don't you come to a meet and tell every person who has hids a looser? Then find bunch of Jeeps with stock hids and call them a looser cuz even though they have projectors they still blind you.
Aiming the bulbs down helps and works well. Oncoming traffic is not blinded and you see more than with oem setup.
Moreover, the comment about spoiler, how old are you? So I guess everybody with hids is a ricer? Or wait hold on, everybody with aftermarket rims or suspension is a ricer right? Should really be quiet and stop talking buddy...just an advice

Just get higher-wattage oem style bulbs or get proper HID housings/lamp assemblies that were designed to work with HID bulbs.
Instead of spending the money on an HID kit for my non-HID head light housings and all the ballasts and stuff that comes with it, I simply replaced my oem bulbs with higher wattage bulbs. The low beams are a bit brighter then stock but still aimed correctly as to not blind on coming traffic, and the high beams are MUCH brighter then stock and light up the road just as good as, or better then any HID bulb in an oem housing.

I was always under the impression you do mods to your car to make it better?
To each there own but when you do thinks that are affecting the safety or driving condition of others.
Ok maybe my comment was a bit harsh but if you read the entire thread I was being constructive and in line with the other comments. The reply about doing it anyway and "not wanting to spend money on it" but willing to buy the HID's in the first place. Sure does sound ricer. Thats what prompted my abuse. HID's are a great improvement when installed properly.
scridor, you seem to be an intelligent person from what I read. I don't have a problem giving an opinion in person. We should meet up sometime "buddy". You can see that I support a well mod'ed ride with rims. Some members on here have met me. I just have a hard time warranting a 5-6 hour drive to meet up with people I really don't know. Sorry I'd rather spend it with my kid.
