EK paintjob pricing?

Hey guys,

I haven't done any pricing of my own, I just wanted to see if I could find some average prices for EK hatches and coupes that you guys (and girls) paid for the colours Red, Black, Silver, and White. I know it's a general question and can vary from place to place. I just wanted to get have an idea for a full shell paint job with those colours.

Thanks!

if you are painting the car the same colour and there is minor work to be done ( few rust , little dents ,etc) expect to pay anywhere from 1000 - 2000 depending on where you go .... That is for an average paint job , do not expect a show car paint , just a basic spray ....

If you want to change the colour of your car then expect to pay a lot more. Anywhere from 1500-3000. Keep in mind that for 1500 they will probably just paint the outside and leave the inside the same colour

To be honest with you , it all depends on who is painting it , there isnt a set price , everyone will charge you a different price ... The cheapest places will just spray the car without removing anything ... Then the most expensive shops will remove the bumpers to spray them , and they will maybe put an extra coat of clear coat etc....

If you want a show car type of paint job then the price can go from 3000 and up ... Unless of course you know someone

Thanks for the quick reply! I don't want to sound like an idiot for asking what might be an obvious question, but let's say I only wanted the bumpers painted, would that significantly reduce the cost if the painting (I'm not sure how expensive the actual materials are versus the hourly wages of the painter)?

A full paint job can cost from 600$- 4500$ if not more. Cheap paint job will have single stage paint which is paint and clear mixed into one. That's how your car is. The more expensive paint gets into layers of paint and clear. The more layers, the deeper the colour and the more expensive it is. Moreover, it will vary depending on shops name/reputation etc.

To paint just the bumpers should be cheaper. A quality paint shop could match the colour up for probably 700-800$ or so. How come you just need bumpers painted? Body kit??!

full paint jobs are getting really expensive. there's a good paint shop near my house that one of my friends got his car done (from silver to gunmetal) for ~2500. they did the inside and outside, everything was done proper, and they are a good shop. this was about 3 years ago, and when they did the car it took them months to finish it (it was also during the winter so they could take their time to do it since thec ar wasn't being driven during that period of time.)

we went back there recently to get a lip painted the guys said it would be 250 for the lip. he starts also telling us how if they were to do that whole car nowadays, they would charge ~4000. he told us how they'd rather do a lot of small jobs instead of a few large jobs because it makes more money than having a car sit for a few days or weeks and getting only a couple grand instead of doing several small jobs for a couple hundred every day.

anyway... you can always go to maaco and get a full job done for 500$ but i've heard people saying they wish they had never been there after they got their car back. so i wouldn't suggest it. i say you're looking for 2000+ for a full job that will look decent and not peel off or have crazy orange peel.

or you can paint your car yourself, that's what im doing and i can take all the time to do whatever quality of job i want. it takes longer, but i personally enjoy doing it and dont have to rely on anyone doing anything for me. + good skill to have.

Painting car by self

I've looked into painting the car by myself, I've had a fair bit of experience with being meticulous about it. Also, my gf's father is quite adept with cars and has painted a few himself.

With that being said, what the hell is with all of these rustoleum vids on youtube??! I can't see a "70$ paintjob" being a good one.. any input?
