Door locks freeze...
Does anybody else have this problem?
On my 93EG coupe, whenever it gets cold, the door locks freeze up. The key will only go in half way, and then it stops. I guess the mechanism inside freezes up.
This is really bothersome because at school I have to leave my car unlocked in case I can't get my key in...this is a risk to me because someone could steal my parking pass.
any suggestions?

get the door lock antifreeze stuff it comes in a little bottle for like 3 bucks at CT, you spray it into the key hole and in like 2 min it's unfrozen, if you come to the west end on friday i'll give you mine seeing as i have my garage nowadays...

i had to open the trunk and climb in from the back.....!! get one of those keychains at the dollar store, u noe where there's an end that heats up..? supposedly it helps melt the ice....
just my advice.

I have the same prob on my 93 EG Si coupe. Just washed it the other day (in 20 below weather) - all froze solid including trunk..my de-icer keychain was no match, even heating the key with a lighter did nothing, I DID pu de-icer in before and after that wash, (motomaster lock de-icer)..still had no effect, I think it actually froze too..I've tried wd40..basically everything..however I've found my solution. Now that my lock is BROKEN merely from opening the latch inside with NO excessive force in this damned cold I CAN'T lock it..problem solved. That sure made my day.

THe reason this happens is because the grease and lubrication (oily one) inside the actual lock where the mechanisms move have either been depleted from wear or are on the minimal stage. To fix this you will need to spray white grease or some other sort of lubrication in there and open and close your locks about 100 times. This way the lubrication has places to move into and joints to lubricate therefore creating a film type residue that prevents ice from forming. Reason why SIR RACER and everyone else is not having this problem is because we got 6th gen civics which still got lots of lubrication left from what the factory put in.

Same thing happens to my beater but I have found something that is free and works always.
Kick your door a few times. Also punch (or smack) around the door. That'll break the ice.
That has yet to fail for me.

Front passenger's side power locks are sometimes faulty. They don't always close, what will the problem be? Car is like 9 months old, out of greese?

Walmart carries this Liquid Wrench door lock antifreeze, pressurized little can, small enough for every pocket, so you can put it in your jacket and forget about it ..... that is until you need it. Happens to me too once in a while after a carwash, but since I have to be at work at 8AM, I can't afford not to be able to get into my car. Works like a charm.

I get that hapen to. I have to unlock the passanger door, and unlock the drivers to get in.
Either that or sit there blowing hot air on my key hole, looks like im giving my car a blow job lol

never happened to me yet...or maybe cuz i have keyless entry?!
try this (learned from my dad), dip your car key in motor oil and stick it in the lock turning it a couple times. do this once every winter and it should not bother you again! =-)
