DIY Wheel Refinishing
For all those that weren't sure it could be done... here's proof it can be done.
BEFORE (original condition)
INTERIM (after stripping old clearcoat, cleanup, and polishing)
FINAL (after new clearcoat was applied -- took some shine away)
ON THE CAR
Overall, I'm pleased with the end result. The finish is not as shiny as I had expected, but that's a result of the Duplicolor clearcoat I used . Had I used a different product (possibly POR-15's Glisten PC) I might have had a shinier finish. The wheels look shiny or flat dependent on the light, and personally I like the look... as do some fellow TCC members and members of the general public.
I have documented the entire procedure and will hopefully post it soon. The whole process took 1.5 - 2 days over last weekend.
Please post your comments and questions.

I have seen the wheels before, and after, and I most say they look pretty sweet. They don't have the polished look the factory finish, but more of a light gunmetal, industrial look to them.

I'm planning a DIY session this Saturday (24 April 2004) if the weather's good. How many people would definitely come? Keep in mind I live in Stoney Creek and no, I'm not changing the location.
