Cops and Daytime running lights

Anyone ever had a problem with the cops for not having DRL's?

nope, and seriously doubt you ever would as long as you still use headlights in bad conditions ie, heavy rainfall, etc.

i took out my DRL fuses and so far so good.

Nope, I've never had a problem. I wouldn't think you would, I see a lot of older cars with no DRLs.

Does it make a difference if you have them or not? I mean I don't see why you would or wouldn't want them?

you wouldnt want them because if you're like me, you have cheap eurolite bulbs and dont want them to die in a month.

and ive never had a problem

I was having a problem with mine. Half the time I started my car, only one of the DRL's would come on, and I'd hear a buzzing noise from inside my dash somewhere. All the while, the DRL light on my dash would come on. If I turned on the headlights, all of that would stop. I tried replacing the headlight, but that didn't help. I figured, rather than diagnose the problem, I just got rid of the DRL's all together... I never really liked them anyway.

Ya, I used to have those cheap eurolite xenon bulbs. I liked them, but they only lasted me 8 months.

Now that I cut the DRL's I plan to get another set of eurolites, hopefully they'll last longer.

My car has no DRL. For the crx they were introduced in 1990.

I cant see a cop complaining you dont have them.

Never had a problem, plus I run my fogs 24/7 so those now took the place of my running lights.

you'll need DRL's if you were going to certify the vehicle but, otherwise, it's unlikely that a cop will hassle you for it.

I haven't either but here's the deal. I remember the whole court thing about them.

Legally every car maker started having to have them after a certain point. Some started in '94 some in '96.

The law says your car 'should' not be driving without them working.

But almost any cop won't care or notice them anymore. I have the refference in the Highway Traffic Act somewhere. But most cops just won't even both to think of it. So I wouldn't worry.

Keep driving for now and if they pull you over say you know and you are saving up to have them installed. At that point I'd worry about it.

For those of you who run fog lights a lot becareful. A cop has the right to pull you over for it as well as the DRL.

For oncomming traffic it's the same as highbeams at night.
