Cleaning E36 headlamps

Cleaning E36 headlamps
I know this is a Civic site, but a few people on here also have BMW's. I posted on maxbimmer, but people don't respond on that site.
To the members here with E36 BMW's, how do you get the headlights really clean? I got the Meguires Plastix but haven't used it yet. Can I clean the lenses from the inside (also wanted to know if they can be taken apart because I'll be making my own angel eyes)? There's 2 metal clips, but it's still stuck on there.
Can I buy replacement lenses from BMW?
