i did a bit of research and everyone keeps saying 2500+

im hoping that one of you guys say 1000

i want to change my 95 4 door civic from dark green to black.

Im not looking for factory finish and im not looking for a metallic or a high quality black just a black that looks good and wont peel off easily

I've had good experiences, the one in Newmarket. The company I used to work for... had 9 vans done, did a good job.

You get what you pay for. Prep is the most important part of a paint job. Any monkey (okay, a trained monkey) can wave a spray gun, but to prep, sand, fix, mask, that's a job.

ahh so its like a hit or miss with maaco

@Tyson09- alot of people do say that you get what you pay for but im not asking for some Pimp My Ride paint job i mean its just a basic black

@cr8tive leo- well theres a bit of rust on the rear panels so as long as thats fixed and doesnt eat beneath the paint i'd be happy. also i recall my friend saying how he owned (well his dad owned) a sandblaster but im scare to use it a) because ive never done anything of the sort before b) ive never seen a sandblaster b4

EDIT

did a bit of research and ppl have said that SOME maaco's do a good job so i just wanted to know if there were any good ones around toronto

1000 bucks get you nothing more the paint and someone to spray it on... you want repairs as well your dreaming. What kind of car is it ? you might be better off selling your car and buying a black one.

$50 dollar paint job! Takes lots of work but will hold up. Do a search on Honda-tech.com there is a MASSIVE thread on it. Over 200 pages. There seems to be alot of good reslults, its just very labour intensive.

team rukus doesnt do paint...they actually suck and they rip off people...

if you really want cheap paintjob, DIY. Tremclad works from walmart...people may say its stupid because they'd rather pay 2000 to get someone to do it. but If you have patience and you do it right, it actually looks nice and wont even look like you did it yourself. Me and my boyfriend, we both have civics and he painted both of our cars with tremclad and the paint still hasnt come off its been 2 years, no rust shows whatsoever =D (the cars are in my display pic if your wondering how they look like)

*just a suggestion =)

does anyone know of a maaco that will actually do this (prep my car and actually put in some TLC) in the GTA

Try the Newmarket Maaco.

They do body work.

Straight off the 404, exit Greenlane, head west, first set of lights , turn left, first intersection, left, follow the road right to Maaco.

K I'm gunna give them a call maybe get a quote but..random question

Can you rust proof a car that already has rust cuz after the paint job I wanted to rust proof but there's probably some under body rust(like the axels) just wanted to know what rust proofing that would do? Would the rust slow down or stop competely??

Do all the prep yourself and then just take it to someone and tell them to spray it. $500 is definately possible. You'll have a decent paintjob too, as long as the guy isn't a fukhead.

fixing rust is easy, get an angle grinder with a flap disk and some body filler, just don't make it thicker then 1/4" and you'll be fine. If you need to go thicker than 1/4" you need to get the resin body filler with fiberglass strands in it.
