cheap decent paint job?

How is the paint on there now? You can get away with a wet sand with 800/1000 grit over the sheet metal - if your body relatively cherry. You'll have to remove the bumpers, sand them, and use a primer with a flex agent <-very important. You will have to remove all the trim around the windows, and the body mouldings as well. It is also a good idea when you drop off the car that you remove the headlights and the tail lights..
I would not use maaco for custom paint. Just for respray. If you want custom PM Team Rukus...

Maaco carries all oem colors. I know someone who had they're 92 Integra painted the same color it came from 92. The paintjob came out really good to tell you the truth, but it didn't need any body work b/c it was in excellent shape.
If it needs bodywork like welding metal and ****, don't bring it there b/c they'll cheese up your holes or rust or whatever which is why people say they're butch. What do you want for $500??
I also suggest you remove all the moulding on the car unless you want them painted as well. B/c what i noticed is that they don't do a great job on taping and masking the mouldings on the car so there was paint on the edges of the moulding which didn't look too great.
Other than that, the paint jobs are really good. My advice, no bodywork go to maaco for a cheap painjob. If it needs bodywork take it elsewhere or do it yourself, then bring it to them for the prime and clear finish
