Although they do wipe the same I would still say the aftermarket ones are better. Ofcourse if you are talking about the rain-x ones. I've used both types and they do wipe the same but the only difference is that the aftermarket ones do not have the frame. If you park your car outside you know. The conventional ones over time wear off quicker since the frame does not provide enough force and therefore it leaves areas unwhiped. Also I find that the aftermarket blades do not require the little lips you put on a conventional wiper for downforse for highway driving. Although I do not say it from personal experience since I'm yet to replace the springs in the wiper arms but as my friend told me even speeding on the highway his rain-x wipers do not lift up while wiping. But that's just my 0.02 cents

The only good "blade" style wipers out there that are of decent costruction and arent horribly over priced are the Michelin Wiper blades as a few others have already mentioned. I have recommended them to several people this winter as an alternative to convential winter wiper blades this season as the convential ones lift on the highway and are complete garbage. Im actually currently running a set of OEM Denso blades on my civic as I can get the inserts for them at work for next to no money and they do a phenomenal job as well. The only thing I try to make sure to do in the winter time is flip the arms up anytime it looks like its going to snow so they dont ice up.

Its funny in that article he mentions that the ice still builds up on the blade style wipers just like the convetional ones and that the performance is the same. "In wet slushy or icy conditions the blade wipers showed no difference in ability. They allowed ice to build up on them just like the conventional wiper blade even though blade makers claim the opposite."
I have used the blade style wipers in the winter time as well and though the ice and snow still can build up on them it doesnt effectly them nearly as badly as conventional blades as they dont have multiple pivot point that ice up. They do sometimes ice up at the the area where they clip onto the arm however causing them to stick a little in certian positions.

ive been using my conventional ones on both my integras and now my civic and so far they do a great job never really tried the aftermarket ones, ive bought the strips from honda in agust for like 5 bucks each and it seems to be a good bang for ur buck...
ps. i saw these armor all wipers that are suppose to have a 2 year waranty anyone has any input on them or there performance??

so i installed the blades on tuesday and i can say that ice still builds on them, they still streak the windshield ... however the only good thing i found is that they do not lift at all on the highway.

i dont' know about you guys but the conventional wipers will streak for me without any ice buildup. during a storm in the summer the conventional wipers will still leave a trail when wiping while the aftermarket ones do not.

I have a set of the Rain-X blades from Crappy Tire on my Civic. They're ok but they definitely still get ice blockage on them and because of that a good portion of the wiper no longer makes contact with the windshield so when it goes to wipe it leaves a huge unwiped blotch on the windshield.
I still have to roll the window down and give the wiper a flick as its coming up the window once in awhile to break the ice off. I also noticed that these blade wipers have a tendency to 'skip' or 'skid' across the window. Im pretty sure its because of the uneven pressure applied to the windshield.
