Question air pressure on aftermarket rims

I just got 17" rims installed on my 93 CX instead of 14" steelies! should I use the honda recommanded air pressure or ....

I tried using honda recommanded but the car steers itsleft really bad, mostly on low speed. it might be caused by something else don't know!
Please let me know what u think!

the steering is normal.. the traction is much more.. rims are much wider.. causing it to grip the roads and the imperfections of toronto streets...

i have 16 inch rims.. 205/40/16 tires..
i leave the pressure at 35 pound for each

what about u guys? (please state tire size and pounds)

215/50/13 (racing tires) 40 for the front and 44 for the rear then I decrease the front based on weather and how the handling of the car feels .... go on give them air!

never got it..sorry
i's cool

chances are at 32 you'll chance damaging the rim a lot easier than if it was higher..(pot holes etc..shorter sidewall, ridge of whatever hits it has less distance to travel to hit the rim)
i think i'm running around 40ish on mine, i'll check tomorrow morning and post what i have tomorrow afternoon..

Isn't the max psi rating diplslayed on the sidewall of the new tire that you have? So what ever psi rating is on the tire than that's what you go by.

I'm running at 32 psi cold with my 195/50/15 Toyo's. I'm not having any problems at this level and the ride is great!

you're only one step up tho i believe..with a nice sidewall to absorb impacts..

just have a look at the tread face once you have air in it and they're hot saturn..
they should sit nice and flat on the road..
if after a while you start to notice any weird wear patterns, adjust accordingly..(wearing down the center, reduce air..wearing on the outer edges, add air......compensate for camber..)

What I do is this......Honda says that for the stock tires, I should be running 32PSI......my aftermarket rims/tires (204/40/16 on a 7" wide rim) are rated to 44PSI.....I ussually have it just under half way....36. I usually keep it around 33-34 though.

I like to keep my teeth from rattling out.

That's crazy......when it gets hot, it will probably rise above the recomended saftey rating of the tire. If you hit a good size bump or pot hole on the highway or road, you might get a blow out. Why? Well, the tire will already be stressed to the max...then when you hit a pot hole or bump, the tire will get compressed even more, (just like a ballon being squeezed until it pops). It's just a matter of time......as the tires starts to fatige, it will become weaker......then POP!

Also, it puts unessesary strain on the suspension components. The tire is suposed to absorb some of the shock, and if the tires are too hard, then the suspension has to work over time......with a lowered car, the suspension is already under stress.........something has to give......ie...car body. (where the suspension mounts to the cars frame.

I've seen it first hand. It's not a pretty sight.

Steering is way to much, its starting to scare me, mostly happens when I'm breaking. Some times when I let go of the steering wheel before the car comes to complete stop the steering wheel turns 180 degree! Any solutions to make it a bit better?
I though you'll get better handling with rims but its scaring me so much I sometimes think of going back to steelies!

That's what performance rims/tires do. The stick to the road. The wider the rim....ie...6" or more, the more you will feel it . (pulling)

Roads are not even....they have a bit of a "dish" to them (because of large heavy trucks). Skinny tires (#1), sit in this "dish" and are not really affected by it.

Wide performace tires/rims are wider (#2)....they can't really sit in the "dish". The tires usually sit a little bit on the left of the "dish", or the right. If the tire is driving on the left side when you brake, the car will pull in that direction. Likewise for the right. Some roads are pretty flat, and this is not a big problem.....but some roads just plain suck......ie.....east bound on Finch just before/after you pass over the 404.

Two things you can do....go to a narrower rim/tire, or back to stock, OR, get bigger mussles in your arms, and drive with BOTH hands on the wheel.
