99 civic OEM foglights

OK..this is crazy

I went to HONDA dealership today and asked for OEM foglights....he says they've been discontinued BUT he has a set and can sell them to me for 320$, otherwise they run for 420$ usually.....I can't believe they cost so much.

Do you know where they can be purchased for less money or something?

You can get OEM replicas for less at Speedtech in Scarborough. I got a set from them after Acura wanted $400+ for the ones for my old 1.6EL.

The set on my old EL were $300 installed, although that was awhile ago, so the price may have since changed.

Speedtech is at (416) 335-8388.

Most places that I've been to, sell them for around $200.....so keep looking around. (I paid $180 for the 5th gen ones on my old car, and they came with EVERYTHING....ie....factory dash switch, wire harness, bolts to hold the fog/driving lights in place, zip ties...ect)

If you find replicas for around $225, get them. (just make sure all the parts come with them.)

just keep in mind that these so called "OEM style" fogs are made in taiwan and have no quality standards. (My rusted out after 2 years).
Pay the extra few bucks and get oem.

Not all replicas are bad though. I had my OEM replicas for 2 years and had no problems at all. No rust or problems, and the wiring and even the switch looked identical to OEM to me.

Remember, you get what you paid for. You can't go wrong with OEM.

Peace

I had the replica's on my old car for over 2 years, and they were still in mint condition.......that was until the accident.
You must be unlucky twinbros.

BTW, the only thing I modifled on the replicas, was the switch......(the colour was off a little bit). I replaced it one day when I found a dash at the scrap yard that still had the OEM one in it (I was lucky).

My biggest concern is wintertime.
I don't know how they would take cold and snow and salt even.

The screws on the back of each fog lamp rusted out after my 1st year. The conncetors were gone after the 2nd year. I would never go replica or factory style again. I got my set of fogs in HK.

Just get a piece of clear pastic, (vinyl) and cut it to the shape of your fogs, and stick it on. Its much thicker then normal vinyl .

If it's your first time, yes.........if you've done more than one, no.

as for...

That only happens when you are following to closely to other vehicles.

As for the rusty comment.........

I put a bit of greese over the screw heads when I first installed them, and I also used a spray for car battery terminals, to keep the wire conectors from going bad.

you could always purchase a bra or cover them up with some kind of plastic material.
