Talking Who's gonna teach me to drive manual this summer?

Come on guys.. I feel silly being one of the few people in the club not having driven a 5 speed manual car.

I'm sure I'm not too bad at it! Someone take me for a spin or gimme a lesson!

Puh-leeeeze!

i think as long as you provide the car anyone will be willing to teach. but when it has to be on someone elses car then that will be a different story

honestly your best bet is to rent a standard car. I don't think anyone wants people learning on their car...nothing personal against you, just most people have put their heart and soul into their car and to hear a mis-shift followed by a crunch would bring tears to their eyes.

Getting tired of Auto Asim?
Just go rent a standard car to practise on, that's what I did. Driving standard is no longer a problem

Ya I thought enterprise around yonge and eg rented std cars?
Also the idea of buying a shitbox is good, but don't forget to factor in insurance and how long you'll need it.

want to learn manual?

I was in the same boat as you guys when it came to buying my first car.

I wanted to buy a 5-speed BUT I didn't know how to drive one.
I had years of practice from Gran Turismo and I had ridden motorcycles, but I still hadn't driven stick yet.

Everyone promised to teach me, but no one ever did.

SO!

I bought myself a used '93 Hyundai Scoupe (My first car) a 5-Speed from Mississauga Honda and was given a quick lesson from my seller. I put a BIG SIGN in my rear window saying

***STAY BACK! LEARNING TO DRIVE MANUAL***

I kept that sign there for a month and every car I've ever owned (5 of them) has been manual. Haven't looked back since.

Matt, I'll look around here. If I can find a manual car to rent, then we'll split it and both learn.

How does that sound? In the summer sometime?

We'll show up to the meet in it, with the car jerking forwards, and the gears grinding. We'll get out, and play it all cool like we've been driving for years.

Hahaha!

I can see us doing something stupid like that.. We get out and lean all the car all slick pretending we drove in nicely.

i'll teach ya asim... as long as u do it my way first.... that is, get the car moving without using the gas!

once u can do that a few times, it's super easy.

once, a co-worker/buddy of mine had faith in me and taught me on his sisters 240sx (hehe.. she didn't know, i only stalled once), and after that, bam... i stalled my car sooooo much.. haha

i learned stick on my SiR when i first got it. never drove stick before until i got this car. it should only take you like an hour or two to get the basics down then a month to really get the hang of it. i'm pretty sure i cut my clutch life in half while learning though
