who here hates the interchanging point of 404-dvp?
I'm just wondering who here hates the part where 404 becomes dvp. I'm talking about the highway construction. It has been going on forever, ramps are all messed up and stripes are hard to see time to time because they never clean the old ones clearly. Then there's this big part where they haven't pave and in process of working (in a slow manner). It's just frustrating how the road construction is taking forever, I mean like, before i can even enjoy the new smooth surface of the highway, my car is probably all worn to hell like tires, stone chips, windows damage, etc etc.! Well, I took the way around by going down to sheppard before i enter dvp to avoid the section from steeles+sheppard on 404, but sometimes when i come down from hwy7, its just not wise to drive so much local, right? I'm just quite frustrated coz they are not working effectively and they are definitely not doing things in an organized manner!
Well I saw the signs that the highway is close until monday 2am or something, its the part from sheppard down to gardiner i recall. But that piece of road is ok, what are they doing to it? I want the 404 part FIXED! Well, whatever it is, they better get the highway done after the closure. I mean they should pave it up nicer by then and have those stripes fix up!
Also, have you guys ever think that these highway construction never seem to end? Maybe its Canada, we have winter and the salt kills the road. But I believe every year, we have road construction after winter till the next winter comes. Its like we've spent 9 months to fix the road, then a 3 month winter kills it! Is it because we're being cheap on the road material? Is it because our construction is not done effective? Its just seems like I've never driven on a peaceful highway where there's no construction! Anyways, I've finish my whinning... Those who read it till the end, I really appreciate your time to read my frustration! I try to keep it organize, so you don't get as confuse. But I'm too lazy to go back and check grammar and stuff, so please spare me if you found mistakes!

I hate it as well... Im on the 404 two times a day, I pass that area quite often.
Three weeks ago, stones were flying everwhere. I checked the car later that night, noticed some hood chips. Its very annoying for people who travel that route every single day!

I think that the constant highway construction is inevitable given our climate and the amount of traffic using the roads. I saw a discovery show or something like that about highways in the GTA, supposedly they use the best materials available.

i just think it's suspect how they mark it as a construction zone and leave a few trucks and such lying around yet there RARELY seems to be any construction workers there at all let alone actually working.

Everywhere i see construction signs there are workers working there...
i seen the show on discovery aswell and its crazy how 1 minute after 6:00am the company gets charged 10 thousand dollars because they went over the time.

ontario has one of the best roads and highways in north america according to recent survey's and study's.
try driving in quebec first then compare that to ontario.
people take things for granted because they dont know how it is to be without it once you see it from the other side of the table you will know ontario isnt bad at all.
and most of the construction happens overnight because its safer for the construction guys and they can close highways all together to do more work. they close off sections with signs because cars wont be able to drive in the sections that are being fixed.

well... if i compare this situation to elsewhere, i agree, this is nothing... but i'm talking about my everyday life here, right? i know they are using the best material and i know climate is a reason because we live in canada!
i agree with shazza, most of my time passing by those construction zones, i don't see them working too hard... yeah they are working, but slow like a pig... yeah i see workers there, but there's only a few... do you see 10 workers enough to fix a huge area of a highway? that's not enough.... they do work in the daytime as well, just not in the rush hour.... they should plan their work better, like how much area of the highway to be close, how many lanes to be close, have better signs (not signs that are fell to the ground)... ohwell, they should be done soon... but its just how much pain i have to drive through that spot... stone chips makes me sad! there's some minor damage to my windshield too... but those honda oem glasses are good! haha =)
