I bought it off my parents.

I paid every cent of it over a period of a year.

Helped by family, but had to pay it all back. It was an intrest-free-family loan.

my car was partially a gift to go to university... but then I had to pay for university which was WAY more expensive than my car. $10K/year tuition and rent - I could have had 3 new Civics LOL So, take it any way you want - either my 'rents paid for university and I paid for the car... or they paid for the car and I paid for school. Either way, I'm greateful to my parents! But that was just the one car... the other 13 that I've owned in the past I paid for them myself.... oh wait, no... one more was a gift from my 'rents - when I turned 17, they bought me a $1000 '89 Dodge Daytona. That lasted 6 mos, and then June 1998 papers were signed for the new Civic.

if this was a BMW board, this poll would be more heated.. Civic hatchbacks aren't exactly unaffordable.
