uh...wasnt there JUST a thread on this? well, i didnt wanna bother writing it all out again so i just copied and pasted from the last thread...apparently i wuz quite angry that day:

"apparently wut i do isnt considered real work at least not to the real world. i'm a doctoral student and do research ALL frickin day, everyday...on top of classes and all the other requirements. for the past 2-3 months i've been pulling 60-70 hrs/week, 7 days/week in the lab. i work most weekends and holidays. i used to dream about my experiments going wrong and lab mice attacking me, but recently i've developped the skill of actually designing experiments in my dreams , which brings a whole new meaning to "research is a grad student's life". ok...i do make some $ with the stipend i get, which ends up being like maybe $3/hr, but then i have to pay for tuition plus stuff for the car. i barely break even every month, which is the same case for all grad students...afterall, they make sure we only get paid enuff to merely get by without starving to death.

edit: i also supervise 2 summer students, which means i design experiments for them, train them in the lab, help interpret their data, and basically tell them wut to do next. and no...i dont get paid for this.

end of rant"

What's your skillset? PHP and DB programmers are found by the bucket. Do you have any *exceptional* artistic skills? Or maybe sharp programming experience?

We're hiring one or two sharp web people but I need them to be *very* familiar with Linux as most of our projects involve writing web interfaces to shell scripts and programs.

If you're looking for more mainstream web stuff then I wish you luck. Start posting your resume like crazy, the market is oversaturated right now.

Yeah, grad student life sucks ***. I couldn't go any further than a Master's. My sister is brave, she's almost Ph.D. now, it's really taking a toll on her sanity and health. I sympathize shazza.

Yeam man, I heard the Canadian Tire retail you only get 15% off or something. And you don't even get the discount at the point of purchase, they just add the 15% tax you paid for the purchase back onto your paycheck.
My friend told me that last year, is it still the same thing?

I work at Threshold Inc. I do stereo installations in heavy machinery (Excavators, Bulldozers, all Caterpillar equipment)
and Boomerang installations, for those who dont' know what Boomerang is, it's pretty much a security tracking system for your car.

Anyway, we deal with Kenwood and Clarion so I believe I can hook you all up with stuff from them for factory cost if anyone's interested

Don't they make chocolate and candy, as well as dog food?
next time you guys bite into a mars bar, just remember it was made in the same place your dog food was!

I work at Orillia Power Distribution Corporation ( a locally owned hydro company) - engineering department ... then on weekends and weeknights I work at a Staples Business depot in the electronics section. Need a deal at staples?
