Where do you search?(small business question)

I have been running my business for 16 years and been using yellow pages and direct mail to get new customers. However during the past 2 years calls from yellow pages have dropped. (people searching on the internet)

I'm listed on some sites but have a question - sort of a poll.

??What are you favorite sites to use when searching for a product/service in the Toronto area??

I guess I want to see what other people use - kind of a marketing survey. Because to get a business listing on Yellow.ca of 411.ca you have to pay to have n advertising link.

Thanks
Lofty

www.google.ca

for example if I'm looking for Tires. my search would be as follows:

+"Tires" +"Toronto"

and I'd have a look at the first 3 pages that google comes up with

anyways if you want someone that knows all about setting up a site that gets hit by google look up Opal at www.sio2.ca

I use her services for my site. now if you look up (without the qoutes) "One lap of canada" or "solo 2 in canada" or Solo 2 in Ontario" and a bunch of other phrases related to the racing I do my site is on the first page. thanks to her work.

if you need a place to host your website I highly recommend www.intralink360.com they host my site and they also host this website. when wqas the last time you saw this site down due to server issues? it was a long time ago because they know what they are doing I highly recommend them for webhosting

Advertising on google is also very expensive. When I was in the web hosting business, people paid over $10.00 a click for top placements in Google's Adword program!

you don't need to advertise, just put information on your page and submit to google.

my personal website on google was the first link if you typed in
"dead hooker f*ck sh*t f*cking motherf*cker necrophilia"

something to that effect.

i was number 1!!

I use 411.ca if I'm looking for something specific in the area, ie. type of business or business name.. I use google and other search sites for more general stuff..

Thanks - I basically use the 3 mentioned - Google, yellow pages and 411,.

I know they are the big ones, now to generate content so I get #1 on the searches.
