Whats a first part time job?

Basically i'm wondering what a decent first time part time job would be.

I've worked as a cert. Ski instructor and while the pays good, its seasonal. On top of that... its not "retail experience" haha, so most places wouldn't hire me.

Any suggestions?

Stock clerk at a grocery store, Home Depot, Walmart, etc. If you work the night shift, you may also get paid a little more.

gross... i'd rather work at a gym or something...

p/t usually you get to work out for free...

i've never had retail experience and i'm definitely glad for it..

also if you teach skiing look into teaching swimming or teaching something else... teaching stuff pays more than stocking shelves...

I used to teach swimming, until I moved away for school. I basically trained all the courses for like 2 years, then worked for almost a full year, and went away to school. If you arent planning to go anywhere, I def say do that, it pays really well. Also, check out waiting tables at a restaurant. May need to work your way up from Busboy firs though, but the tips are worth it.

Back in my day we started with a paper route and went onto retail. You crazy kids jump right into these fancy high paying positions like stock boy or burger flipper.

just hit the mall and apply everywhere. the gap, club monaco, AE, athlete's world, etc. and someone will hire you. those stores have really high turnover, so they almost always need people. all you have to stress in the interview that you love meeting new people and helping them find things they didn't know they wanted. make sure you mention product knowledge as being very important to you, and also upselling/multiple item sales.

First job was a lifeguard. It was great. From there I was a delivery driver and then a bartender, then a quarry truck driver at stelco, now i'm working as a marketing & promotions manager.

Apply at Future shop/Best buy. I did with no sales experience and got hired part time, while working my full time job.

They actually train you for two weeks on what you need to do and the rest is up to you. Very good if you are a highly motivated person, you can make some good cash. Their pay structure has changed from when I worked there, but its a start and gets you into retail.
