What would you do?

So.. I have to make some important decisions very shortly.

1. Would you move to a place that you can follow and reach your career goals, BUT a bit scared to move and get out of your comfort zone, and it would be a huge culture shock and a lot of adapting to do.

2. Stay in your comfort zone where you truly love to be but less opportunity for advancement.

I say go for goals. Your comfort zone is just an illusion, and I have many times in my life thought I was "comfortable", and when it came time to move on I was reluctant. Only later did I realize how much better off I was by stepping outside my comfort zone. You need to do that every once in a while I believe to stay sane.

For all you know, the new place you may be headed might just be better in terms of goals AND comfort.

comfort zone is weak, you'll learn to be comfortable wherever you go (within reason)...

You could always go back if it doesn't work.

Exactly, you don't want to be saying later in life, "I should have done this". Don't sit around and wait, take your chance and run with it. I more or less did that when I moved here from Montreal, and I haven't looked back.

Hey Steve you don't think it won't be a huge culture shock?! Come on look at North Bay, there is no diversity in culture! Definately culture shock

haha! not true.

i can see how toronto can be a culture shock but not a huge one. when i go to smaller cities, it's a culture shock too cuz there 's only white ppl and it feels so eerie.

arent u asian? haha! how ironic then if toronto is a culture shock. welcome to china city!

i say move. toronto isnt that far...i mean c'mon now...you're still in ontario and it's not like you have to learn a different language. a lot of ppl that i know from smaller towns that moved to t.o. at first said they would eventually move back, but now they say there's no way they can go back to living in small towns.

move on up, yo. it's prolly for the best. change is exciting!

thought about posting then realized we're talking about moving from north bay to t.o. This really isn't a tuff one to figure out!!!

For the record: PremiumDude had the best advice to offer in this thread in my opinion.
