What tool do you use???

that was free/very very cheap and make your job that much more easier?

I know some jobs, you need allot of different tools to help you out, but do you guys have any tools you have made from scrap pieces, or something that doesn't even resemble a tool, but works just as well?

For myself its a coathanger. It has made my life that much easier. Some people prefer to use a bulky fish tape, or other fishing devices, but for me, a cheap coathanger is the best. I have a few different length ones I use daily for fishing wires through walls, and it was free.

Its amazing what you can use as tools, that cost next to nothing.

I always use a coat hanger with the tip cut on a 45 to drill through wood floors with to spot holes for heat runs, works perfect.

I hate the fish tape...but I have to use it so often.

also in my trade I often use other materials to shape other materials...example a piece of S-Cleet to shape edges of a block end or for joist lining

actually I use that also, it comes on handy for breaking out the cross bridging in joist spaces

Plastic bags. Perfect for a 'parachute' kind of setup for fishing pipe.

I use paper clips to jam in the buttons so they stay stuck in and I can go do other stuff while the hoist goes up or down.. sounds kinda funny but it saves alot of time when you got about 5 going at the same time..

I use an old beach umbrella pole as a breaker bar. I also have a solid brick of steel that I use as a stress reliever tool. It weighs about 12 lbs and is completely indestructable.

I use a piece of cardboard wrapped in plastic as a creeper when under my car. A couple of days ago the rubber piece inside of my spark plug remover got stuck on the sparkplug inside the cylinder. Used some shishkobob skewers to get that out.

What happens if there is problem, do you just move outta the way and let the car fall?
