umm toyman29 when u say toyota+lexus it doesnt mean they are alliances
only noth america has this gay system of creating an upscale division eventhough its the same manufacturer etc...

its still the same company
and no toyota and nissan arent independant from wat i heard.

yes toyota is independant ...not sure about nissan ... read the article it's in there it says that honda is the only OTHER company to aviod alliances ...and since toyota is the biggest in Japan then that would be the other one.

That is true, Toyota and GM share a plant somewhere in the USA, can't think of the name of the plant off the top of my head. They do not make the Matrix and Vibe in the same plant however.

Toyota and GM are partners. As a result of this partnership comes the Vibe.

Yoshino, 63, said he was getting too old and insisted his hand-picked successor, 58-year-old Takeo Fukui...
Right..... 5 years younger, way to go Yoshino!

At any rate, I am set for Japanese cars for another good 10 to 20 years.

Toyota teamed up with GM back in the 80's to create the Nova, which was really a Corolla with Chevy badging.

I don't believe Nissan has teamed up with any domestic companies.

Nissan is not really a major force and has not teamed up with anyone yet that I know of. Mazda and Ford, Mitsubishi and Chrysler, Toyota and GM... Subaru/Fuji Heavy Industries are independent, and Nissan and Honda. Honda DOES sell engines to high end Saturns now. Yamaha did engines for the Taurus SHO a while back. BMW-Mini gets their engine from Chrysler (why, I don't know??)

Actually, GM bought the tooling from Toyota to produce that junk, it wasn't quite a team effort. Opel and Caddy/GM are also hooked up.

Toyota Matrix = Pontiac Vibe
Toyota Corolla = Cheverolet Prism
Nissan Quest = Mercury Villager (FORD)
Mistsubishi Eclipe = Eagle Talon
Mistsubishi 3000 GT = Dodge Stealth
Suzuki Swift = Chevy/Geo Metro
Mazda B Series = Ford Ranger
Mazda Tribute = Ford Escape
Mazda Protege = Ford Escort

the list goes on and on...

and then you get things like companies that own other companies

like ford owns volvlo... etc
