It didn't erupt as much as it exploded. The top blew right off, due to the intense pressure build up, that's why so much destruction. I believe it lost like 500m of height or something.

A low-speed freeway chase in a white Ford Bronco...just a leisurely fugitive manhunt for the former football star, O.J. Simpson, who was suspected of murdering his wife and a friend.

Thousands of spectators and on-lookers packed overpasses along the procession's journey, waiting for the white Ford Bronco. Over twenty helicopters were rumoured to be following this chase, maybe more. It was televised by local as well as national news outlets, with approximately 95 million viewers tuning in. The event was covered live by ABC News, which achieved some of their highest-ever ratings that week.

The capture of Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.

"Operation Red Dawn" was an American military operation conducted on 13 December 2003 in the town of ad-Dawr, Iraq, near Tikrit, that led to the capture of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Apparently, the 'spider hole' (the tiny underground bunker) from which Saddam was eventually found, now sits at the base of a palm tree covered by a concrete cap.

This day welcomed us to the era of the bar code.
On June 26, 1974 at a supermarket in Troy, Ohio, the Universal Product Code is scanned for the first time.
The product sold? A ten-pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit chewing gum.

http://teachers.egfi-k12.org/wp-cont...cy-fruit11.jpg

What happened to that ten-pack of Wrigley's gum? The historic pack, unchewed, is on display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History.
