Time for a break

Hey everyone
im just gonna vent for a little while

Names Pat and im 22 from hamilton, some know me some dont

over the last 5 years of my life i have been a gambler, i have grown up playing and learning cards, betting, casinos, bookies, you name it i have done it. with soem great wins and some heartbreaking loses too
I understand cards and poker and im not just some kid who thinks they know how to play, i dont just play in 50cent dollar games of poker, where it take absolutly no skill to play. i dont look for the easy games wher ei can go in a and TRY and win a few bucks, i go for the real games where if you raise a guy he respects you and folds, or calls your bluff and come back over the top at you,
or playing blackjack, over the years we have cam eup with a cway to better increase your odds of winning at casino bblackjack. it takes a lot of ***** and a nice bank roll but it can be done, im not gonna share my secret cause i dont think some would agree with it, then again some would think im crazy for playing the way i do
Gambling tho takes over your life, ill give you soem examples. the weekend hits and all i can think about is where am i gonna play, or i have to find an underground game, or i need this much money, where am i gonna get this cash, bankmachines and loansharks and bookies and worries
i wouldnt be able to sleep some nights, not because of debts or anythign like that .....but for a fix, i needed to play that was my addiction...no no that IS my addiction
between the money i have borrowed and taken off credit cards to play and then money i have lying around(yeah i may have a 10000 dollar credit card owning bill and some may say why, but i cant pay it .i have the moeny and i just cant go pay it. i have the 10000 maybe more sitting in a safe place. i just feel , to be honest i dotn know what i feel i always wanna have that bank role ready for play
this is what i mean gambling take over your life
i have never worried about money or needing something cause if i do i get it,
yuo go on such dramatic winnering streaks, one night playing carribean i hit the staright flush, or the night i couldnt lose a hand at blackjack and made 12000 or so in half an hour
and you also go on the losing streaks, the night i was down and almost out and TOOK money from my 17 year old sisters savings to go play,(i think that was my alltime low and i will never forgive myself for that one) because i had to go play, i couldnt sleep or do anythign i just had to play
and ill never say i havent put 500 bucks on a sports game and lose and then tried to chase the win(put 1000 on next game til you break even)and then the next night do it again

you know all these kids that put 20 down on a roll of the dice in the corner at a highschool or the little ****ty home games of cards and things like that, i wouldnt do. people see me as a PLAYER twhen it comes to office pools and things always seem to go my way.
i sometimes begin to be annoyed at the staus i have given myself and become
i have a great family and some great friends, who have always been there when i needed them. i have tried to limit myself to not borrow money for my games and habits from them i dont want others being involved, work and thats where i get the money, pay bills and win and lose but not get others involved

so what i have decided
im gonna take some time away from it all. not cause i have lost and not cause i have won, but becasue ...well its pulled me in so far i get scared sometime
one thing i taught myself is never worry about money and i dont
im just ready right now for a little change, see how a normal perosn lives and saves money and doiesnt worry about stupid things like tongihts poker buy in
so today i enrolled ina help group....not to quit gambling but to have others to talk to and share stories with
if its some cheap *** little grooup where some punk *** lkids are gonna say i blew all my money playing blackjack ill lose it
its time for a new ME

Thanks for letting me vent out a bit, sorry it has been so long and sorry about spelling
for those who have read the entire thing sorry if i jump all over the place, theres just been so much on my mind
thanks for TCC for being someone to talk to

Pat

i wanted to add something,

i will never say gambling is bad or anything cause i have had some great times and met some great people. you just have to keep it under control.

A freind of mine is just starting to show signs of this addiction... He blew allot of tuition at the casino the other night playing blackjack. Hes been going farily stady for about 6 months, when he told me he lost some of his tuition money thats whan i noticed that i think he may have a problem... I think im gonna forward this to him.. hopefully he wont take offence to it. but rather learn from your mistakes... It becomes a lifestyle, and being indoors in a casio all the time with no concept of time isnt exactly healthy lol.

My father was a huge gambler, still is. He lost everything pretty much. The gambling mixed with his drinking problem, and the total lack of concern for anyone else helped too. (Parents are now divorced and I haven't really spoken to or seen my father in 2 and a half years)

I'm 20, and I don't gamble or drink for these very reasons. Gambling never really did anything for, neither did drinking. But I won't even have a single drink while with friends or anything.

When I was in both Montreal and Vegas this year, I didn't spend more than $10 in slot machines all together. I honestly spent $2 US dollars on slots in Vegas. Only reason I spend any money at all was becuase the rest of the people I was with were playing in the casino, and I needed to do something to pass the time. Either way, I much rather take that money and blow it on something for myself or close friends/family.

I know people that had gotten so addicted to it since highschool. My friends used to play cards during every lunch, and for real $. I have another old friend who ran (still does from what I've heard) a huge cardgame in his home. It's like right out of Boiler Room.

Either way, good for you, and good luck with your new lifestyle. I'm positive you'll find it a much more fufilling one.

I had a pretty bad gambling problem... I was at Brantford charity casino 4-5 times a week from 3AM at night after we closed the store till about noon the next day when I had to be in class. Roullette, Black Jack, 3 card poker, you name it. Those gawd damn chips are so easy to spend. Each hand $25 or so, gotta split or double down, that's $50... if you split and then double down, that's $100 on one round of play!! And you don't wanna leave the table till the shuffle is up cuz then you fawk everyone at the table, and that's just no way to play! What a rush, but you feel like an IDIOT when you leave and you're like a grand down I stopped thank GOD! cuz there is no way I could have kept this up. And now ironically I live 2 blocks from the casino here

Congradulation on noticing that u have a problem. Most ppl deny that they have a problem. Great start so far.

i know how it can be addictive, especialy when u start winning. i love going to the casino playing roulette and Pai Gow <--- Fav games. I dont go verry often though. i usualy play it on my computer. thats how i satisfy myself with out losing the money.
i dont know if u would get the same high playing it on a computer but if u are willing to try i can send u Hoyle Casino Games to you so u can play that instead. i dont know if i would be helping you or making things worse, but i know it works for me

I work an a casino so I know what people go through when they have a proplem. You have admitted to having a problem, and have taken the first step to fixing it. When I work on the weekends, and we are open 24 hours, I see people who spend the whole weekend there. I mean they come in Friday night when I'm working, and when I come back on Saturday night, they are still there. It's really sad because a know they aren't going to win. Sure you might win once and a while, more so if you can play cards, but you always end up spending it again. I know it's hard to quit. That rush you feel when you win and walk out with a wad of cash. It's hard to give up. Do you think that the OLGC and the private casinos make billions from people winning? They don't. They make that cash from the losers spending all of their money. My advice to you, is to get yourself banned from the casinos,. Maybe get some counselling. Or, as dumb as it sounds, get a job at one. You can't gamble anymore, and you can see what happens on the inside, and maybe that will convince you to quit. If you have any questions, pm me, maybe I can help.
Mike

dude I went through the same thing ...I lost roughly 10 grand in one year ... but being a programming guy I'd keep testing out the system sI found on the net for each of the games.... if they looked like they worked I'd try them in a casino where I'd lose what I brought and then I'd go back to wonder why ussually to find a mistake in my programing

basically I stopped .... I have racing to steal my money now I'm glad your tryingt o get over your addiction....
