Love my SOHC VTEC. Had a B18B in my car, and all I notice is a lack of torque, but my car still puts down 106 tq to the wheels, which is better than most B16s.
Anyway I went back to D and I love it, got the JDM LSD tranny and it's a new car. 70-80 lbs off the front end + LSD = way better handling.
Gas mileage is better, and I can't beat the living hell out of it day in day out and if it blows, whatever, don't have to mortgage the house.

Gotta love the LSD! Got one last year when mine original tranny crapped out. Along with a stage one ACT clutch and lightened the flywheel, its like driving a new car. All in all, I enjoy driving my car and never get tired of it. Nova made some great points. And I think I will now concentrate on the performance and handling of my car with the D engine.

You have converted me Oh great Charles! Long live the SOHC!

Charles anytime, if you are at this week's meet, take her out. In the meantime, I am serious about keeping my engine. Hopefully when I have some funds, I am going to get started on the suspension and whatever tweaks I can do my engine. One day we should sit down and talk shop my friend, wouldn't mind hearing some of your ideas and plans and I can share mine and we can do a sounding board kind of thing.

enjoying my d16z6.... especially the mileage of around 500 for a full tank... not so bad... pretty quick and easy to handle.... when i save enough... gonna go H... but definitely still keeping my D just in case i wanna have it back in later and sell the H

I have no complaints with my D16Z6. When I get some more funds, and when there is a need, I may think about swapping.

only problem with your theory charles is that a D series is very limited in potential compared to a b series. How many guys have 700whp D series engines? I have yet to see any in that territory yet there are tons of B series. There just isnt that much potential in a D series and the extra money put into a B series produces much better gains with modifying it than compared to a D series engine.

To the guy who said his B18b had a lack of torque, you musta had a bum motor because there is no comparison between the torque of a B18b and a D16.

Chris, I will be happy for you when your B18 engine reaches 700whp.

But my goal was never aiming at that HP range. Every engine has its limit. Of course, D has its, and so does B. Same thing goes for H, K, J and other makes out there. If you want 700whp out of your engine one day, then of course, I wouldn't say D is realistic platform to work with. You can push 600whp out of it, but it is still shy for the 700 Club folks.

It is all good. Buy the engine of your choice and work on it. I like to break 100whp barrier first before I talk about 150whp. And if I do reach 150 bench mark, then I will aim at 200.
