so the french control Islands

there's a set of islands just south of newfoundland. they are aq french colony ...here is info on them:

http://spminfo.com/en/
http://clmarciniak.free.fr/photo/index-e.htm
http://www.bcdxc.org/fpve7sv_maps_and_photos.htm

I just have to wonder why Canada hasn't annexed these into our country? we already control the waters around them and state whether or not they can fish in those waters.. so why not take the islands over?

I always knew of the islands but I thought they were rocks that didn't have a population on them.. apparently there's over 6500 people living on tem.thats nuts.

Sounds pretty neat. They are just small fishing communities it seems like. No real benefit for the Canadian Government to introduce them into Canada. It would mean a lot of new maps and books and paperwork and crap for schools. It just wouldn't be worth it IMO.

Wow that is a good find man.. I just finished reading it now, good conversation for wowing the bookworm *itches Well maybe not wowing.. but I am sure not many know this. Perhaps Quebec seperating doesn't seem that far off afterall. THey could join these islands and make a super french colony!

You guys never knew this? The islands were retained by France after 1763 as a base for French Fishermen...

I am just trying to see by the pictures what cars they drive. I am assuming they drive North American vehicles but some of the cars look European. There aren't alot of clear pictures of cars.

Edited: on closer inspection, i see some Ford F-150's

i have heard stories about tax-evasion schemes of cigarette running from St. Pierre and Miquelon to Canada.

no point for canada to waste time and money on such a small thing. and it does nothing to promote canada-france relations in a positive way.

those Islands were the cause of some contention between Canada and France when Canada Banned Cod Fishing. if we were to take the Islands over we'd beable to keep the foreign fisheries out of our waters.

I dunno I think Canada should have compelete control over our resources. I see these Islands as an invasion to that .. just like America is piping our Water and Oil out of our country. why don't we keep our resources for ourselves? why doesn't Canada have a back bone.

I'm hoping that one day Canada will allow the Turks and Caicos islands to join Canada a a territory.

I'm hoping to withdraw from world politics and let everybody kill eachother while i chill out.

If Cynikal moved there, there'd be little dark babies a year later popping up all over the island and only one black guy there.

It could be your goal to bring ethnicity to the island! it's pumpump time!
