Smokers: who wants to quit?
#65
Well yesterday was the first day of "trying" to quit.... I had only 3 in the whole day... This is really strange feeling... the day seemed to have gone along alot slower... and I'm really fidgity... I need something play with or else I get that urge to spark up... I also found that it felt alot better and I get less fidgity if I just hold the cigarette in my hand and play with it or just hold it in my mouth without lighting it... Today ... Day two...

Ok, if you're a smoker, don't read this...
I smoke for several reasons: it all pretty much amounts to less stress, saving money, and a happier life style...
a) It costs less to smoke than buy lunch and snacks every day (smoking supresses my appetite),
b) I have made a lot of friend from smoking, and it is a great way to network with people,
c) My boss smokes, and we actually make a lot of good decisions at work while smoking,
d) Have you ever tried going more than 12 straight hours in a computer lab without smoking?
e) I once lived 36 hours on tobacco and caffeine, trying living 36 hours off of will power, the patch, support circles, and hopes and dreams
f) I am a nicer more relaxed person if I smoke,
g) A day of breathing Toronto air is equivalent to smoking a pack of cigarettes - I am probably breathing cleaner air by smoking in Hamilton,
h) Cell phones, aluminum in deodorant, ugly girlfriends, and stress, also cause cancer, angina, heart disease, and stroke; maybe I should use pay phones, not wear deodorant, start grabbing hot girls' asses, quit my job and school, and quit smoking all in one go,
i) My mamma didn't raise a quitter
But seriously, I would quit, but for me, the benefits more than out weight the consequences for smoking. Otherwise, I would just end up replacing a bad habbit with a less social bad habbit, like smoking crack or sucking c***

as for day 2 I've been up since 7.00 and so far so good...
2 1/2 smokes so far instead of my 5-6 that I would have had
normally it's
1-wake up smoke
2- walk the dog smoke
3-get dressed/showered smoke
5/6 -walk to work smokes
7- smoke on break
today it was
1-wake up smoke
2-walk to work smoke
0.5- smoke at break (I wasn't going to have this one... but I work in a high stress enviroment)

For me anyway, the best way for me to quit is to remove myself from situations that stress me out. Smoking is the most convenient and effective stress relieving agent I have. If it was not for tobacco, I probably would be a way more irritable person.
This is partially true, because since I started smoking, I have been able to handle bad situations a lot better. I know smoking is bad, but for the most part, taking five for a smoke is more constructive than ramming my head through a computer screen or pulling drifting stunts down Main Street (and I did that pretty frequently in Hamilton last summer )
Actually, quick story:
Last summer I was coming back from Hess village (a party district in Hamilton) and drove by two young people hitch hiking up the mountain at like 2 AM. I drove by them not caring, but then felt guilty because there was no one else on the road, and those guys would probably never get home. So I turn around, and head back down the street to them. As I approach I drop it into second, wail on the gas, and then whip the wheel and goose the ebrake. I pulled a wicked 180 and ended up in the opposing lane almost right beside the guys. They thought I was a car theif because the stunt looked f*cking hard core, and I did it in the middle of the street. I reassured them that the car was mine, but they still hesitated to get in. After I dropped them off home, the one guy said he would drive his friend home (he had a new Mustang or something in his parent's garage). They probably went out and tried to pull the same maneuver.

congrats cosmic hopefully u stick with it...
Since Jan. I've gone from a pack every 2 days to 1 pack for during the week and 1 pack for the weekends, I have to refrain from drinking/ going to bars mon. to fri. though, but it saves coin for more mods.
less smoking = more mods

I'm with you... I also enjoy smoking.
