slamming of passenger door
Hey guys
everytime when i'm out with my gf, she slams my door all the time on my new 08 civic, Grrr...... I yelled at her 2x's already and felt sorry but she still does it, telling her doesn't do anything and I told her to be gentle with my car, next time but whenever i'm late to pick her up, she gets in the car and slams my door again and just pulls the seatbelt as hard as she can. I don't know my passenger side is not gonna survive any longer. She keeps telling me its just a car but I tell her its my car that i'm paying for. And if that door is missing its not my fault. Now the only other thing I can do is do the gentlemen way which is opening and closing the door for her. Is there any other ways around this? btw i'm traveling between Hamilton to North York area and traveling on a saturday and dealing with some traffic even if I left early.
let me know Thanks
p.s there are days that I want to tell her that if that door is just a door than when it falls apart your paying for the damages and i'll bring you the bill.

Ahahhaa, My wife does the same ting on our Civic. (8thgen) We used to own a Blazer and you had to realy crank on the door to shut it, guess she thinks the Civic is still the Blazer, love it when the seat belt gets jammed in the door and leaves a dent where the buckle was... grrr.. ah well, it's jsut a car, I do pay for it too, but , seriously. Just remnd herthatit doesn't take much to close the door. *howis she with the trunk? that's my pet peave, SLAMMMM.. the whole carresonates with the force of that hurl*

Is she always mad when she enters your car or something?
I don't think a normal person would always slam a door shut and rip down their seat belt as hard as they could, unless they were pissed or stressed.
Yes it would annoy me and **** me off, and I can tell you someone who did that, wouldn't be riding in my car. She'd be walking!

haha, I used to do the same to my ex when I got mad at him
He'd pick me up, we'd have an argument, he'd drop me back home late at night, I'd slam his car door and yell "You're a bastard!" and walk away.
(I feel bad about it now, but what's done is done. I'm MUCH nicer to cars now. )
Its a... You made me mad, so I'm going to make you mad type thing.
To her its only a car, but she knows that it means more to you. Hence, why she probably does it.
Some girls are vengeful bitches
Honestly, just don't be late and you wont have that problem. Because now she knows that it bothers you. So the next time you get her upset, she'll just keep doing it.
Tell her you'll pick her up 30-60mins later than you normally would.
So if you pick her up at 2pm, tell her you'll pick her up at 3pm this time, but still leave your place at the same time as normal. Then it'll look like you were on time... or even early!

It seems like immature behaviour if she's doing it on purpose, especially if you've discussed it with her.
Giving your gf the benefit of the doubt, though, sometimes old habits die hard...perhaps, a gentle reminder (or reminders, as the case may be, haha), might be what is needed.

^^ I agree, come classical conditioning (think Pavlov & his salivating dogs) -yet in a more respectful human sense... ha, YR- is called for here...
If that fails, you've got more than sufficient grounds for a break-up.
My car will always be better looking, more dependable, quieter & have greater resale value than any woman who has the utter misfortune of being with me, LOL.
