S14 240sx what do you think?

Hey guys, what do you think is a good amount to pay for a 240sx?

There is a guy selling his 1995 Perl White 240sx (S14).

It has Leather interior, sun roof, factory fog lights, Cusco Zero 2 coilovers, SR20DET (with stock intercooler and blow off valve), and front triangulated strut bar, alarm, mp3 player, Viscous LSD, high flow cat, 3 inch mandrel bent turbo back stainless steel exhaust.

Body is alright, not MINT but looks pretty tight. A few small dents.

He wants $17 grand for it, and says it runs mid 13's in the quarter mile.

Should I offer him $15 grand?

You should meet up with him, look at the car again, and bring 13k in cash and offer that.

Money talks.

$13K?? LOWBALLER!! LOL

If you get it for $15, that's a steal! If he lets it go for $13, you for sure just bought a lemon

Its up to you, I personally wouldn't get a modded car because of the abuse the car could have been put through.

15k seems like a resonable price for a S14 240sx.

Ive seen stock s14s sell for around 8 grand on autotrader, used cars arent fetching the same prices anymore considering new cars are more affordable nowadays.

Actually, ask the guys on the 240sx forums..

www.************
www.freshalloy.com
www.zilvia.net

It seems pretty common knowledge that most SR20 powered 240's run in the low 14's in the stock form. After the 3" downpipe, 3" exhaust, cold winter weather, the boost presure actually rises up to 12 lbs from the stock 8psi even without a boost controller. Mid to high 13's are not uncommon. Some 240sx's actually run high 12's with just 14 psi on the stock T25 turbo and intercooler.

I sat in his car and he drove me around the block. It feels a LOT quicker than an S2000 that I sat in a while back.

Please do more researching before hating on the SR20DET powered 240sx.

Does everyone that get coilovers (not to mention CUSCO coilovers) do drifting? Just from cusco coilover you can say he knows nothing? That's like saying just cuz we drive civics, we're rice boys. Rather ignorant isn't it?

It sounds like a good buy. Just give it a once over.
If you get it get rid of the stock side mount IC, it's ****.

Personally though, I'd never buy a modded car. Never know how it was treated.

but u also never know how used cars are treated

i bet owners dont give 2 craps about their car if they know they're gonna sell it.. like not wasting their money on maintainance and pushing the car w/o care and etc

Take it for a drive, bring it to a shop, check it out, why not. Could be a screaming deal.

Buying used cars is fine - you just gotta know what to look for.

Hey nice choice of cars!!!

I was looking into picking one up mself. I had seen 1 or 2 95's selling on autotrader for 5-6k.
SR20det swap can be found from 1-2k for the red top

So personally I would pass on that car cause I think you could build the same one for a bit cheaper, then you know what your dealing with, instead of buying a car that you dont know how bad is may have been abused.

Hey there, I think the S14's with the 5 lug and leather and sunroof (LE model) go for at least 8 grand on autotrader... That's the one he has. And as far as motor swap goes, the 1 to 2 grand is near impossible. I've been to many motor shops, and for the engine and transmission alone, it is $2300 at the cheapest.

You will then need to spend another grand or so on the intercooler and spend a lot of time and money making piping and stuff since the motor comes with NO piping. You will also have to source the air flow meter, the ignitor (which is usually not included). And the wiring is probably not easy either as most places will have cut harnesses that don't even have the right plugs.

The guy has a blacktop SR20DET in it, with all original piping, and immaculate wiring. He bought a front clip (half car) and swapped everything over. I've seen a few SR swapped 240sxes and most of them have wires everywhere.

Not to mention, it has the cusco coilovers that cost $2500 USD new.

Damn it.. I think I just sold myself his car... but I have to find a way to get the money first.. LOL

Wow you got some strong hate on those sr20dets eh?

Personally, Id take a sr20det 240sx over any civic anyday.

Just buy the car, blacktops are the ones in the s15s right? I dont have my info handy. So they would have the highest stock HP figures correct?
