refugees

it bothers me that the government gives more to refugees than retired canadians who have paid CPP for all their lives..

can you renounce canada then ask for refugee status when you're retired?

or maybe you could go to some crappy country, get citizenship, then come back saying that you fear for your life if they make you go back.

It certainly does not pay to be born here and spend your whole life working to get ahead.
I can't wait to get out of this country.
I am Candian by birth not by choice.

I can't see how they get treated better either... most live in goverment housing and survive foot to mouth. Be greatful that you are part of a country that atleast cares somewhat about humanity. Some of these "refugees" are from New Orleans not always some war torn country.

RRSP??? the government doesn't give us RRSPs, that is our OWN money that we pay into there... you even get taxed on that money when you take it out as if it is income... it is just a way to defer income tax until after you retire and saving up untaxed money right now.

CPP? that is money canadian citizens PAID THEMSELVES, it is not a handout. They have been getting raped by taxes all their lives, only to get a measaly cheque when they are old and should be enjoying the fruits of their labours.

by saying the government gives more to them means they get a handout of cash, sort of like a paycheque.

i know pension cheques to the retired are guaranteed every month until they die but not sure about refugees. maybe refugees are only given welfare for a set period?

rrsp's are not taxed when you pay them in, but they are taxed when you take that money out. they are just a way to reduce your income tax base right now, and defer paying the tax until you are retired and you are hopefully in a much lower tax bracket.. but its still considered income when you withdraw

i think refugees get the equvalent of welfare

The older crowd do deserve some more and the thing I have with refugees are when "some" of them bring their HATE with them.

You leave the old land to start out a new life. It’s not really a new life if your new neighbour in the peaceful suburbia of the 905 is Jewish and you hate his guts because his ancestor waxed the floor with your ancestor.

your mom's customers... that kind of limits the demographic to only include old people who have money for whatever your mom sells, and excludes all the ones who barely get by, doesn't it?

I know a lot of old people who can afford to live a dignified lifestyle, but it is nowhere at the level they deserve

for CPP to properly work a person should be entitled to what they paid in plus interest.

if your 50 and come over to Canada you should not get what a canadian working since he was 18 would get when he retires...
I'm all for locking benifits to a get what you put in scale. It's bull**** that they can just come over and get CPP.. hell if someone wants to sponsor bringing over their parents they should have the resources to sponsor the people they are bringing over. if they don't have the resources the appilication should be denied by immigration...

on top of that if they do come over and are not supported by the sponsorers properly they should have the the option to leave or stay.. if they choose stay then Immigration should have the power to garnish the wages of the sponsor's pay cheque....
