He is, but the job for him was interim. There was an article also about trying to convince Embry to take the job and that he would not need much coaxing. As well, he would possibly take on Michael Curry as succesor to learn the job, the ins and outs so when he did leave, he could take over.

Still, I probably would be a good move, only thing is, does Mitchell stay? Does he make big changes? Is everyone ready for an overhaul again? Will be interesting to see if he does become GM and from the sounds of it, he probably will.
