agreed and look for infinite variable taps if ur going to mig makes honda welding so much easier to fine tune.

it all depends on what your doing with it. Hobart makes a really good welder but you can save yourself alot of money if your just welding light gauge sheet steel.

way too much money for a 120v welder

although it claims to have 100% duty cycle, which is really nice, for the price tag your better off with a 120v lincoln or miller for half the price. I saw a hobart (which is really good) for around $500 last spring, it was 120v as well. Im assuming you want 120v cause you have no 230 taps in your garage?

your best bet is to go to ct and get the lincoln they have there, for hobby use you'd never need more... 100% duty cycle if thats what it claims is also way unnessessary, for a robot welder run a continuous weld for 30 mins or more thats great to have but for manual welding you'd never get near that... unless you work like i do i guess... but in that case you wouldn't have to worry about buying a welder either

ok this is what i need it for, mild fab...exhausts...roll cages....etc.....i want something that will last, and is good, i dont want to pay $400 if i can have something much better for an added $200, u know what i mean....i only wanna buy it once, not like a compressor, u buy a small one than a yr later u need to upgrade.....

Lincoln, Miller, Hobart etc.

the cheaper Decaster ones from Princess auto would work but most likely arnt as durable, the thing thats most expensive is the transformers inside, the cheap ones will burn out faster.

Like Rick mentioned, the Lincolns from HD or CT are your best bet, lincoln is a great name.

If you only wana spend once, get a 230 volt, you will be able to weld thicker metals and they usually have a longer duty cycle.

The mig pak 15 from CT is a good welder.
