Question about New Laptops vista ready

Got a Toshiba A200-AH7..

Trying to blast the sucker back to XP, but cannot find any drivers for video/sound/modem.. Are these new laptops that are "built for vista" only really supported by vista?

its not Microsofts fault that Toshiba neglected to release XP drivers for their hardware, if you monkey around abit though you will find all of the drivers, just look up the chipset, and download it right from the manufacturer, or from another laptop that comes with xp and has the same hardware

BTW unless you have some software that will not run on vista, I suggest you try using it, its more stable, faster and more fun to use then XP

this might sound stupid, but have you tried toshiba's website. you can download all of their utility programs. i'm not certain if they will work for xp though.

i'm sure you must have looked into this already.

it should be relatively easy to get xp working on the machine. machines were fitted to run the new software, once the software is off (vista) then its just a bunch of components looking for something to tell it what to do. drivers are out there.

Lol.. Key word being should

Majority of xp drivers for this machine are old.. 95% of drivers out there are vista only...

Got the majority of stuff going, only a mass storage driver now..

Need xp activation too now, had to install SP2 July 2k7 release to get xp to even detect that it had an HD sound card.

ya, there are some situations where your out of luck in terms of finding XP drivers for new equipment....

as others have said, try hunting around, but you might hit some dead ends...
