Puppy in trouble, Please help!!

Hey everyone...This is a long story but i will try and tell it best i can. I moved into my appartment Jan 1 of this year. My landlord told me before i took the place that he was getting a boxer puppy, and would i be cool with that? Of course i thought hey a little puppy in the house that I dont have to clean up after, SURE!! So, I moved in looking forward to it. He brought the little bugger home on the 5th or so....and i fell IN LOVE with him. He is a white boxer (NOT an albino) named casper with the sweetest disposition you can imagine. LOVES kids (to the point where if we are walking and he sees little kids he will jump up and down and try to go see them) and my cats too! Anyways after about two weeks, my landlord (we'll say Bob)started getting fed up with crate trainging and house training so he left Casper in a crate most of the time. Well I wouldnt stand for it, so I told Bob that when he went to work (at night) id take casper and when i worked during the day he could have casper. This worked out for awhile and everyone was happy. Well then this girl started seeing Bob and taking casper all the time to her house so sadly, i kinda stepped out of the picture. Well, Casper is about 8 months old now, and WAY too skinny, even though I feed him myself every chance I get, plus he has been neglected in his training (he still doesnt know how to "bark himself outside for a pee" and goes in the house...very frusturating but I cant get angry at him because no one took the time to teach him (whatever attempts i made were erased by Bob's lack of effort). ANYWAYS...ive been worried about him lately and feel out of the loop to the point where its not my place to say anything. Last night a friend of Bob's was upstairs and he was at work, well out of nowhere me and my boyfriend hear the most deafening painstaking screams and yelps from upstairs and then violent scratching and clawing at the hardwood and still yelping....I ran upstairs (in my silk nightie at like 2am) to find this @@@hole literally (im not exaggerating) throwing casper into the crate so hard it sent the crate against the wall and casper landed in a heap at the back, cowering...I screamed at this guy, he told me a lot of coulourful things, at which point, i almost flew across the kitchen at him but i knew if i did that then my bf would get involved in it. so i said dont put casper in the damn crate give him to me, so he yelled FINE picked up the crate and spun it around with casper in it, and casper literally shot out of it like a cannon and down my stairs, i slammed the door and ran down to see him, he was literally trembling, so was I, so was my bf...I immediately sat on the ground and hugged him as tight as I could, and when i sat up there was blood all over my nightie, and he was bleeding out of his eye socket. I freaked out and panicked almost went up with a bat...and my bf calmed me down while i cried on caspers neck (and in typical dog fashion he wagged his little stubby tail the whole time) My bf called the police, and two nice officers came right away...we told them everything (I wrote it all down, signed it and gave it to them) they went up and talked to the jerk, who agreed to not have contact with us. We kept casper all night, and I still havent talked to Bob. I am going to call the humane society this mornng to report this, and I am also trying to get "custody" of casper.
At this point I cant speculate what will happen but i wanted to know if you think i did the right thing??? I fell so bad, that if i had of tried harder i could have saved him earlier...
OH, and before i forget his eye is ok. I cleaned it out and it was just a cut in the crease of his eye/nose...hes ok now.

Also; IF i get custody of him through the humane society, I will sadly need to find him a home...He will need someone who has experience with dogs, and a lot of patience, because he has had little training. He walks well on a leash and is never aggressive...but hes horse stupid, and his house training is weak... Anyways, please offer your input and suggestions...

ok first off..to get the land lord off your back..... give him money for the dog and the jerk may just give up cuz he won't need the aggravation...and also...im not sure what your money situation is like..but be careful with that type of landlord...i hope ur lookin for a new place to live

im really sorry you had to experience this... these type of people don't even deserve the freedom they get in this world..but unfortunately ...unless he escalates to the point of being abusive towards people..which he probably already has been ...im thinkin ur so outta luck..i suggest you work hard to get casper a new home...

that pisses me off ... poor puppy !
i love animals especially dogs alot ... and its a shame any animal gets abused ... like they have no way to defend against it

i agree with BoOsTd that guy needs a tune up, kick him in the junk !

i would take casper in a minute ... but it wouldn't be fair to the pup as my current place is pretty small
if i had a bigger place... that'd be RAD ... i'd help him out

hey did that dood get charged or what ....
those guys should be tossed in the can so they can be abused by some big mean jailhouse dood, that'd make him his little bitch ! OWNED .... defenceless .... ha , that's what i'm talkin about ...

you should thro a pic up of the little fella ...

I don't get this. So you need to give Casper away or something? You won't be able to take care of it?

As dogs grow older, they can hold themselves a lot longer. My dog is about 4 years old, and we all work during the day. He can hold himself from 9 in the morning until 5 or 6.

He used to pee everywhere. Just buy one of those baby doorgate thingy and let him stay at the kitchen or somewhere that has tile floor. Walk him before you go to work and walk him again after you got home, and walk him again before you sleep. After a while, he will get used to it.

And if he pees in the house after a while, you still need to give him a little "punishment", such as yell out "bad boy!" or a little tap on his butt to let him know that he did something wrong. Dont worry, dog's skin are thick.

SPANK ME YO~!

Thats horrible, I am glad that you got Casper out of the house just in time, before things got worse. I hope these SOB's pay for the inhumane actions towards such an innocent dog.

When humans die and get poked in their eye sockets until they bleed, i dont feel bad at all, but when something bad happens to an animal it puts a tear to my eye. I hope that bastard gets killed by a white boxer...I'll bathe in that irony.

IMO your making it harder for the dog.

He probobly finds a great person that will help him and save him from being beaten by the owner, then you just want to give him up???

Why not try to work around and keep the dog somehow.
Have you ever owned a dog??? they are amazing pets....

I wouldn't want to see him in a cage at the humane society waiting for other owners.

Yes i have owned dogs in my life, and i happen to know that keeping a dog, especially one starved for attention, does not deserve to be alone in a house all day long most of the time, nor do i have the amenities or the funds to look after him properly I have several friends who live on farms and work from home, and would be more than happy to take him...If you dont have something nice to say keep it to yourself.

Jesse Start looking for a new place to stay and as for casper, well I hate suggesting this but it's the thing that you should have done in the first place.. hand the dog back to the owner and next time it happens call the police and the humane society claiming cruelity to animals.... instead of intervening you should have called that first.. they'd take the dog away ... charge the owner then you can legally adopt casper...

I hate it when dogs are mis treated... I just don't have room for another one here... (plus my current dog is enough for me...)

I'll take the dog if u need somebody to take him...I have a boxer right now named brutus and he is awesome...dont mention to me where this ***** of a landlord lives or whatever cuz I will most likely kill him...any ***** that can do things like that to an animal should be locked up with sex predators and murderers.

I can understand training a boxer is prolly one of the most frustrating things in the world but they are also the best dogs in the world and there is never any need for that kind of behaviour. Like I said if u need to find him a home there is one right here with me and my other boxer

please keep me posted on whats goin on with this situation
