PS2 SCPH Version Info?????

Hi, anyone who knows a link to a site that clearly explains the differences between all the Sony Playstation 2 models, it would be great if you could post it or PM me it. There are a number of SCPH versions that have come out over the years, and since i'm looking for a used PS2, I need to know what makes different models/versions better or worse. THanks to all who reply.

I usually go to these 2 sites:

http://www.mod-chip.com/ps2version.htm

http://www.psxservices.co.uk/ps2_version.htm

Here's another:

http://www.modchipstore.com/customer....php?pageid=34

i heard v7 are the best......
v9 and v10 has the LA chip problem

pm nicotine, he is pro on this... i just bought a ps2 from him today... new laser, v7, modded... very nice... good laser, it uses the BA chip, so won't have the LA chip problem...

i use to have a v4... it was ok... nowadays, many places don't mod any ps2 any version from 1-4 or so... not too sure why, its the soldering or wiring problem... and the reliability after modded... my v4 was messed up...

this isn't about installing a chip, i'm not modding it at all, so i don't care which ones are easier to mod or better to mod, etc. Just wanted to know the better and worse issues between different OEM versions. Like, which ones have less chance of breaking, which ones have less chance of laser burnout, which ones can play home DVD's, etc. Thanks for the replies so far.

Since sony kept releasing new versions, each version has to be at least slightly different or better or upgraded in some way. I'm not looking for a way to determine versions, I'm looking to find out what problems and features each version of PS2 had, then what was fixed or what new feature the next succesive version has. THe idea is that if i'm buying a used one, there could be one that is known to have issues, for example, with a bad laser, which i definitely wouldn't buy. But, on the other hand, there could be a model that has problems doing online connections, which I don't care about since i don't go online, so i wouldn't have a problem buying that.
