police discrimination?
It's quiet today (at work & on the boards) so I thought I'd bring this up, I was talking to a friend of mine the other day about this after we got pulled over in his CRX, the cop was OK no tickets, he just said something a little disturbing...
We got pulled over at night because of his tinted windows this is what the officer said:
"Good evening guys (seemed like a nice cop), I see you have tinted glass on your front windows, do you know this is illegal?"
my buddy: "no, I thought you could have tints as long as they aren't too dark." (I've heard different stories from different cops so who knows)
officer: "actually you can't have any tints on your front windows," this is the best part, "how can I tell what you are or if you are male or female". (is he referring to race?)
anyway he didn't give us a ticket
i'm rambling... my point is do officers descriminate?, I used to get pulled over about once a week the first summer i had my car (about 3 1/2 years ago), when i had fresh plates, looked younger etc. Now i hardly get pulled over but i drive the same car at the same times, go figure. Also I thought I'd mention I have never gotten a ticket wearing glasses, with a girl in my car, or on my way home from work dressed up (in springtime I usually get home well after rush hour too).
So.. have i paid my dues?, I've been pulled over for R.I.D.E. checks and yet havn't had a single officer mention anything about my car in about a year and a half...
any similar experiences?
just wondering/killing time

You think that's bad....A few years ago, there was a cruiser following me for about 2 kms. I get out of my car to use a payphone. Next thing you know, the cop in the passenger seat rolls down his window and says "Hey...Jackie Chan". So I ignore him. Then again "Hey, Jackie Chan". I look over, and point to myself asking "me?". He says "Yes, you". He gave me 2 tickets. One for my tint being too dark, and the other for fail to surrender insurance. Well, I went to set a trial date, and no letter or anything confirming my date. So, it's been about 4 years now, and I guess those tickets have been thrown out. Maybe the cop was worried I'd go complain or something about his racist remarks.

A lotta cops especially around here are on power trips.
The 2nd time I got pulled over, I noticed that from the cop. I didn't get a ticket or anything, but if he would have given me 1, I'd have said something...
"Jackie Chan" eh? Thats just not cool. Ya shoulda reported him to his senior officer...

Ya live and ya learn eh?
Only reason I'd have spoken up was cause I remember our Law teacher in high school sayin that we shouldn't be scared of cops.
But after all this Sept. 11 crap happened, they can do stuff if they "suspect" you.
I'm just glad I'm not in the US.
Things are messed up...

You know what you say when somebody says racial remarks?
You make them repeat it. You respond by yelling "WHAT?! What did you say??? Say it again!!" That shuts anybody up.. especially cops.
What's he going to do.. come up to your face, and say "Yeah *****, I called you Jackie Chan, what are you going to do about it?" You'll be wiping your *** with his badge after that.
But yeah, since he did have dirt on YOU (ie - tint, insurance), you really couldn't fight back. The most important thing you can do in your life, car or otherwise, is to make yourself free of any "dirt." If you do that, you can talk big to anyone.
