are people being to paranoid?
lol I know a few people that have closed their facebook accounts for the simple fact that they think it may be hurting their job search...
I mean if your going to close it, of course its your choice and it really doesnt matter what reason and I dont really care. But, I just found it a bit funny when the reasoning is that employers may not hire them because they have a facebook account or whats on it (not like they see it unless they are a friend, if you make it that way).
Are people being to paranoid about it?

Also, I do have a friend who was told he had to close his or edit his job/education info out by his employer... But thats because he is hired by a company (obviously not allowed to say) as a Undercover.
So he had to edit out certain info or just delete the account..

lol 2 things ...
1. ppl being looked up on facebook is def. a growing concern and is for sure open territory when being looked at for employment.
2. if you do have a facebook account why would you want everyone knowing where they can find you during the day..
people are becoming more and more comfortable about being all over the web.. it's fine if your looking to get exposure or be exposed .. but if your an avg. joe putting your employer on facebook is just looking for trouble... not only will people know your age, location, face but they will know where you will be 4,5,6 days of week without fail....
my facebook account is under my DJ name for that exact reason .. no one at my work knows i use facebook (except for 2 ppl here)

For example, I have a friend in college who is looking for summer work.
So far he has not been hired and seems to think that facebook already has or might hinder the search (even though it was limited for friends to see).

I mean if they had relation to the company, the snitching is still weak but if they had no relation to the company and snitched thats pretty bad.. quite soft.

IMO he should be less worried about his facebook account that they cant see unless they add him and more worried about how good his resume is and interviews.. lol

When the person here ratted on you, did they work for the same company or do business with them?
