with the money anyone spends on a civic, anothert car can be made even faster with the same amount of money.

but the thing is Civics are light cars comapred to other cars. For example if you have a 93 Civic hatchback or better yet a CRX and you put in a 98 GSR or a prelude engine in it, it will fly because its lighter. So i think Civics are great for buying and modding them > Plus you can find after market thigns for them like crazy,, I love civics. but if i had the money i would get a Supra or n eclipse!!!! maybe one day
P.S How come everytime I post a thread about selling my car or buying a new one it turn into a Souping up discussion and people making fun of civics!!! LOL??

Buy a civic and "mod" it...for the same amount you'd spend on "modding" it, you can buy a stock camaro (just an example) for the same amount as buying the civic and "modding" it and the camaro would still defeat it in a drag by a huge difference...i'm with Scuba Steve, civics are NOT fast....

hahhaaha civics
another rice rocket in production
well, I would definately have to say they are great modding cars, and if done properly, they can put a good battle with a camero or any other car for that matter. But it'll definately need an engine swap... maybe an advan or spoon engine. Things can get pricey but if your looking for perfomance and value then it's a great car. Personally, I find civics far beyond played out. There's just too many of them out there. If you're thinking of a show car, stay away from honda's. Find a rare car and work with that.

Ahem... Check my sig. I'd bet my bone stock V8 'bird can take out a stock civic, a mildly modded civic, and even some $30k heavily modded civics. Hell just about any four banger without nitrous would have a hell of a time. Insist on nitrous? Well then I can do that too and we're back where we started. Just because you think slow cars are fast, that doesn't mean everyone else drives slower cars.

These little ricerockets disgust me. Ever see the "performance" mod list of most of these junkers? Fog lights, windshield banner, pedals, cut springs, $8k stereo, gawdy interiors, clear lenses... C'mon, who are you trying to kid? Save your money and buy a sports car right off the bat and leave the economy cars to the people who know what a four banger really is.

lol...so true!!!! i would agree with almost all four bangers with an exception to a mistubishi lancer but that would be in a category of its own...and maybe an scooby impreza sti...but then, again, category of its own....

oh yeah, your "performance" mod list is missing useless wings (which actually create more drag), plastic skirts, crappy paint job and the most important, fart pipes!

Haha you guys and your V8's. Has all the Gasoline gone to your head? Just cause its a 4 banger doens't mean it cant hang with the v8's. Most muscle cars are heavy, so they gotta have more torque and hp to get them going.

Look at this:
Car-Stats.com Report for 1991 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible
Obtained from
0-60: 7 Transmission: Unknown
1/4 Mile: 15.4
1/4 Speed:

thats not bad, but when you consider in that my buddies 89 Civic Hatchback, with ZC motor, yes its only DOHC 130 hp ran a 15.9 @ the track the past weekend, I dont fidn that slow at all.

Civics arnt bad cars. I own one, love it, never had a problem, and the upgrading factors are endless. I admit theres alot of ricers out there who do nothing but add weight to their car and loud exhaust that do nothing, and they set a bad image for all of us, but there are some people (like me, who go for the performance side, and actually do mods or plan to do mods that will pay off not just make it look god aweful ugly)

You guys should come out to a meet soem time.

That's what I hate most. People comparing V8's to a 4 cylinders. C'mon...their totally different classes.
Who ever's the Civic owner on there should tell those guys that a 4 banger running 14's is more impressive than a V8 running 14's. Plus, V8's guzzle a lot more gas.
Someone even mentioned on there about Civics being an economy car. Yes, they are correct. Now, isn't it emabarrassing that an economy car can run just about the same times as his '90 Camaro, or whatever he has in the 1/4 mile? Like someone mentioned...the 90 Camaros do 15's? Damn, probably half the Civics nowadays are running 14's. Maybe this guy got whooped by a little economy hatchback and he can't take it.

Also...there was a comment about something to do with gino stereotype? I've always wondered, how the hell did Civics, or modded Civics in this case, become a gino car??? It was always a trend that started with asians, primarily chinese and japanese, which started probably in the mid 1980's. No offence to everyone else and to the gino's. It's just something that I've wondered. Weren't Camaros always the gino-mobile?

these are just a bunch of stupid dumb kids that don't know what the hell they are talking about. people don't think before they talk/type. ya a muscle car is this and that but not everyone can afford the gas/insurance on a v8 sports car. people have different preferences on cars, some people like domestics some like imports, these dumbasses don't understand that. they should just keep their stupid coments to themselves.

Civics... well all Honda's and most imported vehicles are not only more economical, they're more reliable as well.

I can't tell you how many brand spanking new domestic vehicles have come to our shop for service and already have problems, such as leaks. I've seen some, whether it's GM, Ford or Chrysler with less than 5,000 kms already with head gasket and rear seal leaks.

Domestic vehicles are cheap, poorly constructed heaps... and they're only now beginning to steal ideas from imported manufacturers such as Honda, Toyota and Mazda...i.e.: Focus, Neon, the list goes on.

BTW... GM eco-tec engine... WTF?
