kinda harsh....the no trade clause was in his contract for a reason, not to just take up space on paper

Selfish? What did you start following hockey yesterday or something? You're talking about a loyal guy who's broken franchise records and carried a team on his back for the last 13 years bro. AND without a bona fide star winger for 90% of those years.

ummm no. Being smart is assessing the value of your trade, taking a look at it and deciding if you can help the team more than the trade could. I read a lot man, and have read that the deals presented in exchange for him were not as valuable as he would have been in terms of 1.) helping the team this year and in the future and 2.) not being able to finish his career in Toronto if he were to in fact retire this year. In no way shape or form is selfishness any part of this.
