To be honest I think there needs to be more control on cyclists. When I am downlown I find the most agress people are cyclists, they weave in and out of traffic thread the gap between cars not to mention juming on and off the sidewalk to which ever suites thier needs. Such as following pedsitrian signals or traffic signals. They need to pick on or the other. I can't stand agressive cyclists!

IF it is passed. I doubt it would. But the thought that somebody actually came up with something truely this retarded, AND thinks it is a valid solution, really scares me.
I hope he doens't have kids.

whats the issue?
80% of us do not drive around toronto, half the time you are stuck in traffic anyways and if you do get to drive a bit freely, the roads are so bad taht you'd be stupid to drive any faster than 50 km/h anyway

I'm going over the speed limit about 90% of the time that I'm driving.
You drive like a grandma...haha.

speed laws are so respected now that this will definitely help.
the 401 is 100 km/hr... sometimes i have to admit, sometimes i feel spontaneous and brave so I will do 105 km/hr in the left lane. The problem is the left lane is considered the fast or passing lane, and most cars in the lane to my right are doing 120km/hr in the city, and even more outside city limits.
Same goes for roads such as Finch Ave.
Why don't they ever go for something more reasonable that people will respect? Some places downtown could be lowered for safety, but all roads?
cars are safer nowadays, they also handle much better. Shouldn't we be going the other way?
Toronto is such a nanny city!

getting a ticket is party stupidity part lottery i think.
i know this guy, he speeds at least 1km/hour over the limit every day of the week that he drives.
he has gotten only gotten one speeding ticket in approx 15 years of driving.

marijuana is also illegal. good thing it's illegal, it's stopped so many people from smoking it.

David Miller has been effectively lowering speed limits in Toronto for 8 years now. It's really quite simple, you just don't fix the roads and people have to slow down or break their cars.
It's the goal of Toronto's current government to make everything in the downtown core cost twice as much as it does in a well managed city like Mississauga. They've already made great progress on license plates and land transfer taxes, but this is going to finally start making a difference in the milk and bread department.
This new initiative wants every delivery truck to spend 25% more time getting to its destination so that for 3-4 months of the year, a small group of people with no regard for traffic laws can be marginally safer.
Of course, this will be ineffective because of the general disregard for speed limit signs, the real effect will be when you start pulling people over to issue tickets, causing further congestion by blocking lanes.
Of course, bikes will still be able to swerve through traffic, so Miller sees nothing wrong with it.
You hear that...?
It's another business leaving Toronto.
There goes another one.... and another
