An amazing goalie from Europe, he played and got the best goalie award in the world juniors this year. He was a prospect for the leafs.

What a stupid deal. Regardless of whether they need 2 number one goalies or not, if Rask turns out to be good, he'd be worth a tonne more in trade bait later. Raycroft was great his first year, but he was just horrible last year. I can't say I have much faith in him turning it around. I suspect he may have been a one-hit wonder.

It's true that they only need one of Pogge and Rask, but I would have kept Rask.

On top of that, I think Rask is worth more than Raycroft, especially considering how bad Raycroft was last year.

Yup, Rask is way better then Pogge. JFJ really ****ed up on this one.

any top tier goalie would have a tough time putting up good numbers in boston

I think pogge was better than rask. Rask gave up ALOT of rebounds and you just cant do that in the nhl. Pogge was a better goalie I think, he didn't give up any rebounds.


Then again, I think it was a pretty good trade, but I hope Raycroft steps it up this year. We still have Aubin there which is a great goalie, and I think you might see tellqvist leaving this year. Just a thought....

i think pogge was better then rask too..pogge played just as good..if not better then rask at the juniors..hense the gold medal..shutout i believe it was? plus his unbelievable play in the whl with calgary..pogge is easily the best north american goalie not in the nhl..rask is probably the best european goalie not in the nhl..

if the leafs can improve their defence, so raycroft isnt standing on his head every game...you guys wont have anything to worry about.

pogge is being groomed to be their number 1 in 2yrs. he backstopped the canadian jrs to a gold therefore in many eyes hes more valuable. the raycroft deal wasnt half bad. even though he bombed his second year, hes shown he has the potential to be something great. with a proper coaching staff, especially with maurice, i think hell be amazing this year. also signing him and not nobokov or giggure gives the leafs more money to sign others..hopefully elias!

I hope Raycroft comes back in top form this season, but I think its doubtful. People blame his stats on the Bruins but the Leafs aren't going to be much better of a team this year unless they really makes some serious moves. I think its a decent trade, even if Raycroft turns out to be a bust we still have potential in our younger goaltenders.
