the iPod earbuds are OK, not great though...

as for the Nano, it's a great player....the quality level is very high

I got a 1GB version for my bday, with names engraved on the back. I like it. Bring it to work and listen to in cars all the time, and constantly upgrading new musics.

there is an option in the "preferences" menu in iTunes, you can set it up to sync with your "my pictures" directory, I believe there is also an option to compress your pictures before it uploads...

If you can I'd consider waiting till september/october (if you can, depending when her birthday is), it's rumoured that the new ones will be coming out then, apparently (or so the rumour says) the Nano will be bumped up in storage space.
