heavy cream, vanilla, sugar in one ziplioc bag.
Ice and salt in another ziploc bag.

place bag with cream, sugar and vanilla into bag with salt and ice....start to shake...continue to shake until cream mixture solidifies and thickens...booyah, ice cream in a bag boy!

with the specials on at Rabba sometimes ($2.99 for 2L), it just never seemed worth it to invest in a machine

I'm in the process of making a cherry cheesecake, so the thought of making my own ice-cream seems like more work, especially when Stoney Creek Dairy is so close (imho, great ice cream!).

What I've heard from others though, is that home-made ice cream turns out pretty good. Hope it works out for you if you decide to go that route.

Ya Connie, not too much tops Stoney Creek Dairy, imho. However, Christies in Grimsby (is it still open? haha) or Hewitts on the way back from Port Dover also rate fairly high.

I've not tasted home-made ice cream, but SCD still rates as #1 in my books. But got to keep an open mind, and I'm generally willing to try something new...

watch the episode of food jammers on food network where they made their own ice cream. i forget the ingredients but they put it all into a container with ice and taped it up good then kicked it around alot until it turned into icecream. the one guy even had a random person on the street play soccer with him using the container as the ball. and they also used a laundry machince motor to power a mixer that they placed into a freezer. they do awesome stuff on that show.

NOPE

Its not open anymore, it closed down about 2 years ago... they split the building up into two places, it now houses a Subway & a pool store
