GPS Talk

Since they are so affordable now, alot of us are using them. I purchased a Garmin C430 (the fat one) before the road trip to NY and NJ and i only have good things to say about it. The directions were accurate, timely and the interface is very easy to use. I returned it after coming back since i paid the higher pre-boxing day price.

While in NYC, i picked up a TomTom One 3rd GPS for $149. Only if i had known how much better Garmin is over TomTom...i would have never bought the TomTom. I need to replace this unit with a Garmin.

Some LG and Navigon (5100 and 7100) units are good too..specially the live traffic update feature built in plus actual lane view on the screen. I was not impressed with Pioneer, Megllean(sp?) and other stuff....

Discuss....

Always used maps before, but sounds like it's worth checking out...usually take at least one road trip during the summer, sometimes one in the fall. Looks like it would be a pretty good purchase...

Go for a Garmin 60CX or 60CXS.

Magellan sucks for handhelds.

I used a low end tom tom a few months back. Not that great imo. Tells you the wrong directions everytime, and tells you to turn at the last minute. My bro has a garmin, and he's tried tom tom's too. He likes his garmin, and most people I've talked to, love the garmins.

I've also used a BB with an external GPS receiver (not sure which BB, it was my friends). Used it while in vegas, and worked ok. Still rather have a stand alone GPS though.

I've used a Garmin Nuvi 350, it was pretty good...

The price relative to a built in navigation system is pretty awesome....

I have a cheapy Garmin. It works great. I had to go pick up hubby's truck from the garage it was towed to in a town I am unfamiliar with and it directed me straight to it. I didn't even bother map questing before I left like I used to do. It doesn't have any bells and whistles, but it is fine for my purposes.

i got ed the Garmin Nuvi 360 on sale for Chirstmas/our anniversary...has bluetooth...downloaded his address book automatically from his phone. i hope he likes it. he like's navi's. it comes in handy for him, b/c otherwise, he'd kill 100s of trees printing off maps.
