Its funny cuz, it's assumed that the car is Mechanically perfect.

As for everything Team Rukus mention, sure you can do all that, but me as a buyer, I wouldn't even waste my time.... I bet there's many others out there would do the same. Regardless of if that's stupid or not, that's the way it is.

Also as Bruno said, you'd have to be an IDIOT not to know if the car's been smashed.

Now, if you're buying a nonbranded wrecks to fix and sell for money, then sure you're screwing someone over but making decent profits in the process. Atleast in that situation you're just a prick and not mentally disadvantaged!

only way I'd buy a wrecked sports car is if I had a theft recovered totally stripped chassis for that car. so say someone tows away a 350Z and strips it totally, then dumps it in the ditch. that goes to auction, and I come along and pick it up. months or years later a suitable wreck comes along with a solid t-boning. the car is wrapped around itself, but the drivetrain and suspension checks out. a month later, I'd have everything back together good as new.

do this for me.... go to the recycling bin where you work and pull out a pop can. one thats crushed/creased. you spend as much money as you want making it 'good as new'. if it's as good as a new pop can, I will personally reimburse whatever you spent making it 'good as new' and on top of that I will give you a $1000.

i think what everyone is forgetting here is the fact that it all depends on how its fixed and what the damage was.

when i worked at honda we did everything above code.
meaning say for example we got a 2003 honda accord with a front end accident.

first we would bring the car in
have it checked out by an insurance appraiser
once its verified for fix up we start taking the car apart.

majority of the vehicles that are okay to fix by the insurance company dont have frame damage meaning the rails (the two rails that are seen inside the ebay)
they tend to have damage on the side apron's and front rad support. the illusion may be that the accident is really really bad.
and the reason for that is because of the crumple zone in the front because its done on purpose.

so lets say the hood, headlights, bumper, fenders, rad support, radiator, ac condensor, both fans, a/c lines, washer fluid bottle is all smashed.

first things first would be to take everything out. so we start with the bumper and then the headlights.
then we would hook up the frame machine to it and pull the front end forward a bit so we can take out the ac condensor and radiator cuz chances are they would be mangled inside and not be able to be removed.
so once we pull the front end a bit to just get it removed we then continue taking the parts off like the hood, fenders, ac condensor, radiator, fluid bottles etc....

so now we got a front end that is pretty much empty of all the damaged parts but the rad support is still bent and mangled a bit.

the next step is to pull out the tramp gauge (its a stick type ruler) that we use to measure the dimensions of the engine bay up to the millimetre to see how off it is. using that and the book we have with the specs of a factory honda dimensions for that specific model we see how much it is off by and start pulling the frame accordingly for it to be back to its proper state.
once that has been accomplished now the car is straight and perfect only downside is now i got a piece of metal infront that has creases/rips etc from it being crushed and then straightened out again.
so we drill out the rad support and remove it.
now the front end will look like its brand new with out a single sign of damage because every square inch of the damage has been removed.

then we start reassembling parts...first with a new rad support. place it at the exact location and spot weld it into place using a spot welder that makes the same weld that the factory makes so it wont be able to be noticed.
once that has been done we then start putting back all the parts with new parts from ac to rad to lines to bottles.
the front end is now brand new again and in mint condition.
the last set is to remove the windshield and replace it with a new one.

i can tell you one thing there is NO way you can tell this car was in an accident before. the only way to tell is if you pull its records to see or if you look for VIN numbers on the panels the new panels like the hood and bumper and fenders will say R DOT on it.

Jay go ahead. If you can make a pop can good as new, you WILL get a grand. I can stand on a NEW empty pop can and it won't crush. Bring me a 'rebuilt' can of the same specs as a new one (material thickness and shape) and if I can stand on it, the grand is yours.
