imported_loudsubz 20-Sep-2005 12:12 PM

Dmitri 20-Sep-2005 12:13 PM

i dout it but i got a machine that will pull it

steeleclipse 20-Sep-2005 12:16 PM

i like maximas. they are nice cars.... good for you. are you going to paint it the same colour after getting the body work done?

Dmitri 20-Sep-2005 12:18 PM

i talk to the guy who can paint it for me for cheap he says if i can prepare it he will paint it and i get a good deal, but he says that prepairing it is pain in the ass, so he said just paint the doors and whatever else needs to be painted the same color. but i want to paint it black, but again don't feel like sanding it

there are tons of out of work body guys that will do it for cheap im sure

Dmitri 20-Sep-2005 12:22 PM

what's cheap? like i don't know the prices they charge, and he also says it will never be the same, might even chip, but i guess that depends on the guy who is gonna prepaire it

its ALL about the prep work i was told... cheap is a relative question... what is cheap to you?

Dmitri 20-Sep-2005 12:41 PM

Connie 20-Sep-2005 12:51 PM

Go to Maaco... if you prep it for them its cheap...

My husband does prepping... (89SIHATCH?) when it comes down to it maybe you can shoot him some cash and he can prep it for you... thats what he use to do for a living lol...

But if not Maaco is still pretty cheap!

Dmitri 20-Sep-2005 12:54 PM

^^how about u ask him and then post the price here, i am in st,catharines

Connie 20-Sep-2005 12:56 PM

We are in Beamsville so fairly close... you want me to ask him how much to prep your car for paint... he might also be able to get you a good deal on paint... since hes worked at a ton of body shops. I will talk to him after work and get him to msg you. Then you two can talk about it :)

Connie

Dmitri 20-Sep-2005 01:25 PM

^^thnx

imported_bryanl 21-Sep-2005 12:04 AM

prepping

when we prepped my buddys truck we sanded the whole body down to bare metal..well down to factory primer or bare metal.. whatever it got to.. it was a pain in the ass... then we used a light grey primer and then we used some high build primer and had to sand that down..
the paint has been on it for like 4 and a half years now and it still looks like it did when he got it painted.. he used some house of kolors custom mixed color..i mean its stored inside and he doesnt drive it in the winter.. but thats the best way to do it.. takes forever tho..

bbarbulo 21-Sep-2005 04:12 AM

so you sold a peice of crap and bought a peice of scrap :D hahaha

Dmitri 21-Sep-2005 09:18 AM

its so true!

imported_Cablerat 21-Sep-2005 02:42 PM

God help your soul for buying a branded write-off.

Hope you plan on keeping that car forever, cuz you'll have a hell of time selling it, unless of course you decide to give it away for next to nothing.

imported_Fug 21-Sep-2005 02:43 PM

for a few g's more you could have bought my 02 civic SIR with less frame damage and at least it should still have some resell value once I am done with it....

but the car u got isn't that bad, as long as u can fix it cheap......but i think u overpaid a little bit for that..

Dmitri 21-Sep-2005 02:44 PM

i'll sell just like i sold the chrysler had the same ****
plus u know how many cars i cam acorss there that had good titles but were smashed pretty bad "not branded" dealers jump on those fix wem and sell, so u never know u might be driving a car that was gucked up before

thats what i worry about... you have to have 3 panels damaged in order for it to go on the title... i bet you A LOT of people even in this forum have fixed cars and dont even know about it

bbarbulo 21-Sep-2005 04:58 PM

you have to be pretty dumb not to know your car was smashed. it's easy to see non-OEM seams, at least to a car guy.

anyways, I was thinking the same, $2000 for a 96 wreck is pretty bad.

Dmitri 21-Sep-2005 05:00 PM

u havent seen " wreck" yet. this is nothing

coreyhayman 21-Sep-2005 06:27 PM

ripped off, you paid 2,000 for a pos.....not a smart move on your part......by the time your done fixing that car you could of prolly bought one accident free

Dmitri 21-Sep-2005 06:33 PM

1000 to fix family friend doing it

bbarbulo 21-Sep-2005 06:34 PM

Dmitri 21-Sep-2005 06:35 PM

bbarbulo 21-Sep-2005 06:38 PM

I used to go to 2-3 auctions a week for a couple of years. I've seen it all. Used to work for a dealer.

Dmitri 21-Sep-2005 06:39 PM

oh ok but ya man i got all the **** fot it not gonna cost me more then 4 geez at the end

Dmitri 21-Sep-2005 06:40 PM

i know i could have goten a better deal but i got no time, need something asap

imported_Team Rukus 21-Sep-2005 06:46 PM

car is not a bad price.
looks decent.

just make sure that you get papers for everything you do.
so when you get your salvage done you can present all the documents to get the salvage clearance certificate.

items needed will be the following:
4 pics of the before
4 pics of the after
from all 4 corners

reciepts for all the work done
reciepts for the parts bought
insurance appraisal paper
have all the damage on the paper listed complete

safety and emissions
salavge safety certificate
alignment (structrual and wheel)

thats about it.
not bad figuring the avarage price is about 6 grand
