prepping

when we prepped my buddys truck we sanded the whole body down to bare metal..well down to factory primer or bare metal.. whatever it got to.. it was a pain in the ***... then we used a light grey primer and then we used some high build primer and had to sand that down..
the paint has been on it for like 4 and a half years now and it still looks like it did when he got it painted.. he used some house of kolors custom mixed color..i mean its stored inside and he doesnt drive it in the winter.. but thats the best way to do it.. takes forever tho..

God help your soul for buying a branded write-off.

Hope you plan on keeping that car forever, cuz you'll have a hell of time selling it, unless of course you decide to give it away for next to nothing.

for a few g's more you could have bought my 02 civic SIR with less frame damage and at least it should still have some resell value once I am done with it....

but the car u got isn't that bad, as long as u can fix it cheap......but i think u overpaid a little bit for that..

thats what i worry about... you have to have 3 panels damaged in order for it to go on the title... i bet you A LOT of people even in this forum have fixed cars and dont even know about it

you have to be pretty dumb not to know your car was smashed. it's easy to see non-OEM seams, at least to a car guy.

anyways, I was thinking the same, $2000 for a 96 wreck is pretty bad.

I used to go to 2-3 auctions a week for a couple of years. I've seen it all. Used to work for a dealer.

car is not a bad price.
looks decent.

just make sure that you get papers for everything you do.
so when you get your salvage done you can present all the documents to get the salvage clearance certificate.

items needed will be the following:
4 pics of the before
4 pics of the after
from all 4 corners

reciepts for all the work done
reciepts for the parts bought
insurance appraisal paper
have all the damage on the paper listed complete

safety and emissions
salavge safety certificate
alignment (structrual and wheel)

thats about it.
not bad figuring the avarage price is about 6 grand
