... Ever Had The Urge ...
I have these urge's atleast twice a month.. where i will be sitting at work .. and just have these ideas that maybe the job that im doing wasnt meant to be .... i have tremendous skill (not boasting, its what ive been told) when it comes to DJing .. and ive slowly been puttin DJing on the back burner while i slave at my 9-5 job ... and many ppl wonder what im doing .. they are lookin for new mix cds .. wondering when the next gig/event is and i have nothing to show... now take into account that it is winter and alotta things take a break around this season .. and usually pickup in march ...
however .. i have lots of friends who have left canada and in a couple years are a staple in thier new hometown ...
i just wanna quit my day job and focus on DJing 100% and do what i TRULY love to do ! ... but im too paro about where the money will come from .. how long it will take to get established .. i mean its only a matter of time but its just that incertainty that i have sometimes ..
anyone else ever have things like this happen ?

im lookin to do what i LOVE doing ... when i have like 1-2-3 events to DJ in a week i actually look forward to that **** .. i wanna get up.. i wanna get organized for it and i love being there ... thats what i need to be doing full time ....
i just dont like the way toronto handles thier DJ industry ... 85% of the dj's in the scene suck and coudlnt mix a cake !

yeah man, i want to leave IT and work freelance as a treasure hunter or something, but i don't think it's feasible.
like if anyone ever asks me to go to a island where they made dinsaurs and they want me to walk around with a machine gun and katana, i would for sure.

I was in the same situation a few months ago....Met up with a bunch of guys looking for a solid drummer to complete a rock band. They had the hookups in the industry and everything, and it's always what I dreamed of doing, but they wanted 100% dedication...quitting the job and focusing on pure music. Paranoia kicked in too and I had to turn it down. They were really good tho and had a great chance of getting signed, I still listen to the songs we recorded, but that little bit of 'what if we don't make it' was enough to hold me back.

I think a good percentage would say they feel they're not doing what they'd love to do, but must stay employed to earn a living. If you can find some satisfaction in the work you MUST do and still be able to branch out in the things you LOVE to do, then striking that balance is key, and you get both, but in small measure...
However, only you know if you have the courage to give up the solid income in favour of the preferred career, perhaps giving up the security of a weekly paycheck in favour of the tightrope with no net...know what I mean? Big decision, but perhaps a big payoff. You're the man in control, T.

sha.. thats my problem .. i have to keep working to live .. but im not enjoying what i do .. its a friggin routtine that im not getting comfortable with .. i mean my job pays pretty well ... but i honestly feel that once i have masterd my craft of Djing that i could easily double and / or triple the money im currently making .. and ontop of that if i were to go overseas it would be a diffrent currency usually making it way more money than u would here ..
i really think its time for a change .. i need to start doing what i reallly reallly love doing .. but the problem is, is that in Toronto everyone wants to just buy some cd players and brand themselves as a DJ .. so now toronto is running rampid with "Dj's" who cant mix a cake .. and for some reason ppl are being forced to hear these "DJs" play and in the end being conditioned to think that the jumbled up "horserace" pattern bullish u hear in clubs is the "norm" theres only a few DJs in toronto i actually give ratings to, and the funny thing is they all have been in the scene for like 10-15+ years ...
ughhhh the decisions !

well if you DJ for 20 years you might not like it after that time.. I'm not talking about enjoying it when you have lots of work in a week.. but enjoying it after having to make ends meet by doing it for a living

hahahaha childish dreams. if everyone went ahead a quit their job and pursued their real passion, no one would be left to work and the economy would collapse. there would be too many dj's and no one partying since everyone would be dead broke.

Weigh pros vs cons.
It's easy to say "throw it all to the wind, do what you love"...but then you need to consider things like pension plans, benefits (dental, medical, etc.), other things that you may not necessarily have, and responsibilities you may eventually take on, for example, a family, mortgage, etc.
Talk to others...mature, successful people...before making drastic steps.
