Emploment Resources
Hey everyone
As some of you may know I am finally getting out of post secondary education in april after a long and difficult persuit. Well I am looking for employment at the moment and I was wondering if anyone has any info on good employment resources. I am currently using the popular ones like jobseek, jobmart, monster, workopolis, etc.
does anyone know of any alternative ones other than the major ones that everone uses....
thanks in advance...

what is your degree in, and what are you looking for?
when i went for my job interview/offer for my current job.. i was already working here part time... I was asked if I had any plans when I finished university... my response was I was applying for CSIS.

It may help to seach in certain associtations or groups that companies you are interested in are a part of.
ie...when i was looking for a job with an architect i went to the OAA (Ontario Association of Architects) website and they had listings.

I didn't apply... they offered me a job here.. I have to finish a stupid first year bird course.... due to some miscommunications and my uncaring attitude to school....
the only thing i didn't like about applying to csis is you have to be willing to relocate anywhere in canada.
That's not something I really want to do... so I don't want to waste their time.. in the future... i may apply for IT there... or an as information officer provided most of them are situated here...
I plan on doing more schooling... and a lot of other things for now.. CSIS is still in my five year plan... but not as a field officer. I don't think I'd get in anyway... for one, my dad has been interrogate by the RCMP based on race... and the countries my parents are from... make things worse... and one of my neighbours hates me cause i sometimes spar on my driveway and play basketball with dem coloured folk.
getting into CSIS takes a lot of interviewing... get ready for your employer to discuss you with your neighbours if you apply.

i'm canadian.. but my parents are immigrants.. i'm not a visible minority.
we're not hiring IT grads.. I'm a one man show.. for 50 users.. and i have everyone locked down to the point where most don't have room to f8ck up their workstations.
Brad, have you tried applying to just companies themselves? You're looking for something like HR in an office? Just go around and hand out resumes. Go in person...

make a mini vacation out of it? drag a few buddies.. hand out resumes in a suit and see what you can do.. and get dressed in jeans and t-shirts at night with your buddies.. stay in a motel... whatever...
you want out of province... but you know which province or city? spend a few days there.
